Zenless Zone Zero fans have something to get excited about with Lighter being officially confirmed as ZZZ’s first S-rank male character, with details on his abilities and release date coming alongside this.
The Sons of Calydon faction is expanding its roster by introducing another member. While Caesar and Burnice make their debut in version 1.2, Lighter is confirmed as coming in right after the patch. Players have previously spotted him wandering around Sixth Street and Lumina Square, leaving fans curious about whether he’ll be playable. Fortunately, the wait won’t be that long.
HoYoverse’s drip marketing revealed the character’s splash art, class, type, and some details on his backstory. While not much else has been revealed, leaks about his kit suggest that he’s definitely worth pulling for.
Lighter is arriving in 1.3 as the next playable character
Lighter was revealed as one of the two S-rank units to enter the game in ZZZ 1.3, alongside Tsukishiro Yanagi.
The upcoming agent is decked out in a spiked leather jacket and has a wasteland biker gang aesthetic similar to his Sons of Calydon cohorts. His release will bring the total number of playable Sons of Calydon characters to five, alongside Lucy, Piper, Caesar, and Burnice.
Lighter calls himself the “undefeated champion,” a title that other Outer Ring brawlers seem to agree with. Still, despite his fierce and tough demeanor, Lighter isn’t a fan of seeing blood.
Lighter’s abilities, class, and attributes revealed
Lighter was confirmed by HoYoverse to be a fire stun unit, which has caught many players off guard as the expectation was for him to be a fire attacker. With Lighter being revealed as a fire agent and a stunner, many fans believe that he could easily replace Koleda from the Belobog Heavy Industries faction.
Details about Lighter’s kit are still unknown, but leaks about his skills have already started making the rounds online. According to the leaker named Leifa, Lighter has a taunt that uses his sunglasses. He’ll also have an infinitely repeatable basic attack, similar to Qingyi. His EX special has two parts, reportedly similar to Anton, with the default attack costing 40 energy, and the backward costing 20. Additionally, it’s been mentioned that Lighter has an auto dodge mechanic akin to Zhu Yuan’s during his basic and EX special attacks.
Another leak hints that players might also get a chance to test Lighter’s abilities in a trial during version 1.2, potentially as part of the Tour De Inferno quest. A similar trial was available for Seth, who was playable alongside Qingyi and Zhu Yuan ahead of his official release.
When is the Lighter’s release date in ZZZ?
Lighter will come out in the second phase of Zenless Zone Zero 1.3, which is slated for November 23, 2024.
Fans expressed confusion over the relatively late reveal and release for Lighter. While Zenless Zone Zero is headed to the Outer Ring for the 1.2 update and will heavily feature the Sons of Calydon, Lighter was seemingly left out of the festivities. This was only compounded when Tsukishiro Yanagi, the electric anomaly unit from Hollow Special Operations Section 6, saw her drip marketing start.
With Lighter’s official reveal, fans will likely be seeing plenty more of him in-game and on social media.
