Viktor might seemingly die by Jayce’s hammer in Arcane Season 2, but anyone who played League of Legends knows that any potential death won’t be permanent.
Viktor has become one of the major players in Arcane Season 2. Though he was mostly just Jayce’s sidekick in Season 1, he has become one with hextech and is bringing it to the people. Viktor now has his own utopian compound, where he heals people and maintains a more peaceful order than either Piltover or Zaun.
Yet anything good rarely lasts in Arcane, and Viktor’s former best friend Jayce may be the one to bring its end. Here’s why fans think that Viktor might die in Arcane Season 2 whether or not he’s actually dead.
What happened between Jayce and Viktor?
In Arcane Season 2, Viktor and Jayce have gone from close friends to opposite sides of the battle over hextech, with Jayce seemingly killing him in episode six.
Jayce is swallowed by the hextech core and when he returns, the champion is changed both physically and mentally. He now has a blue hextech gem embedded in his skin and a giant leg brace. But more than that, Jayce is insistent that hextech is a curse and seems to be suffering from violent hallucinations.
Viktor confirms to the manifestation of Skye that something has taken influence over Jayce while he was in the arcane. It is this force that compels him to go into the utopian compound and shoot Viktor with his hextech hammer point blank.
As the herald drops to the ground, he realizes his mistake; humanity has always been flawed. That means it’s time for the next evolution.
Does Viktor really die in Arcane Season 2?
Despite all appearances, Viktor seems to be gearing up for a comeback in the third and final act of Arcane.
Viktor is notably absent from the final trailer, which teases the final events in Arcane Season 2. However, when Jayce mentions that “a storm is coming,” Cait jumps in quickly to ask if it’s Viktor. This leads many to believe that Viktor hasn’t died; at least, not in a way that takes him out of the equation.
Furthermore, fans of the actual League of Legends game know that Viktor hasn’t reached his final form yet. While the show calls him a herald, his full game title is “machine herald.” The odds are high, then, that Viktor will achieve his glorious evolution in some way or another.
Arcane Season 2 Act 3 airs on November 23 at 3 am EST. Whether Viktor goes full villain mode like in League or tries to remain true to his utopian ideals remains to be seen. Either way, fans should gear up for a massive, series-ending battle of wills.
