Ludwig Ahgren recently posted his views on Twitch Adpocalypse in a YouTube video, which is now facing backlash for censoring certain names, especially political streamer Hasan “Hasanabi” Piker.
Twitch is currently undergoing what streamers are labeling the “Adpocalypse.” Referencing YouTube’s advertiser fallout in 2017, the plummeting ad revenue on Twitch has left streamers concerned and digging for the source of it all. The situation has major Twitch names pointing fingers at each other, with many blaming Hasan Piker and Zack “Asmongold” Hoytt. Piker has been a harsh critic of the Israeli government for its bombing of the Gaza Strip, while Asmongold was banned for what he stated was “trivializing an ongoing genocide.”
The whole Adpocalypse situation is quite confusing for an average Twitch viewer, so when Ludwig posted a 16-minute-long explanation, fans were grateful. However, the video is now being criticized for live editing, with Steven “Destiny” Bonnell and his fans accusing Ludwig of “covering up” for Hasan.
What did Ludwig say about Hasan?
In a video posted on the Mogul Mail channel, Ludwig discussed the chain of controversies that may have contributed to the Twitch Adpocalypse. He explained that Hasan claimed Asmongold was responsible and included a clip where Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo seemingly said he believes Hasan played a role in the Twitch crisis and wants him banned.
The original video was later edited to remove the part where Ludwig cited Mizkif as blaming Hasan. Observant fans quickly noted the edit and called out Ludwig for walking back on his statement. Destiny, who has a longstanding beef with Hasan, also jumped in, saying Ludwig is “irredeemably shameless” for putting it all on Asmongold and protecting Hasan.
Ludwig responded to the criticism, acknowledging that he edited a chunk out, but not to protect Hasan. According to the streamer, Mizkif reached out to him, asking to be edited out because he felt that his quote was taken out of context. A clip of Mizkif calling for all political content’s removal from Twitch without naming anyone exists, he later mentioned that it should happen even if it means Hasan gets banned on his livestream. The original version of Ludwig’s video made it sound as though Mizkif directly called for Hasan to be banned.
“[Mizkif] said in a clip, in which he was probably farming, everyone who does politics should be banned, and I had rephrased it as ‘Mizkif blaming Hasan and said everyone who does politics should be banned,’ because Hasan in my eyes is the big politics guy,” Ludwig said.
