XDefiant is growing on multiple fronts with game modes like team deathmatch and capture the flag, as well as more crossovers with franchises like Assassin’s Creed.
Since its launch, XDefiant has posted healthy player numbers and has seen plenty of FPS fans flock to it, thanks to its low barrier of entry. The free-to-play nature of the title, combined with some quality handling, is helping it deliver as an actual Call of Duty competitor. Apart from some matchmaking issues, the game has a steady stream of gamers logging in daily. Fans of the genre also praise XDefiant’s smaller size, especially compared to the latest Call of Duty titles.
The game features factions and maps based on other Ubisoft games including Watchdogs, Far Cry, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon. So, fans were expected to see other Ubisoft franchises appear in XDefiant. Now, thanks to a dataminer, there is a treasure trove of more information on what’s coming to XDefiant and it’s sure to be a treat for both fans of the game as well as Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed.
XDefiant is getting team deathmatch, capture the flag, and infection
Data mines show that XDefiant is getting new game modes including a team deathmatch mode, capture the flag, and infection.
Rogue Tx posted the findings of the data mine. Tellingly, DMCA takedowns removed some of their findings. Among the findings were references to other Ubisoft products, including icons, location names, characters, animations, and weapons. Some possible new weapons include FAL, G36 Rifle, Tommy Gun, and FAMAS. There are also mentions of a turret and an RC car. The leaks also mentioned new modes that might come to the game.
XDefiant shipped with six modes; Escort, Zone Control, Domination, Occupy, Hot Shot, and Ranked. The standard and Team Deathmatch modes are notably missing from the mode selection. If the datamine is any indication, that might not be the case, as Ubisoft might plan to release at least Team Deathmatch soon.
Is Assassin’s Creed coming to XDefiant as a faction?
According to the datamine, an Assassin faction based on Assassin’s Creed might be coming out of the shadows in XDefiant.
Assuming no changes are made during development, XDefiant players can expect to see the Assassins from Assassin’s Creed, Operators from Ghost Recon Breakpoint, GSG9 members from Rainbow Six Siege, and The Highwaymen from Far Cry: New Dawn.
Interestingly, the datamine also mentions factions based on The Crew, an open-world racing game. Even more bizarre, Rabbids are also in the pipeline to join XDefiant, the serious-toned FPS game. Will players see The Prince from Prince of Persia also make an appearance? That remains to be seen.
The leaked content gives a much clearer view of the road map. It’s unclear when these game modes and factions will be added or in what order they will come, but the road map gives an idea of when Ubisoft plans to start releasing parts of it.
