Black Ops 6 reportedly adding Master Chief, Marcus Fenix & more

black ops 6 master chief fenix

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 might be channeling its inner Fortnite by adding skins based on Marcus Fenix from Gears of War, the Doomslayer from Doom, and the Master Chief from Halo.

Many Call of Duty fans have harrumphed over the state of skins in the game. While titles like Counter-Strike have stuck to realistic, military-inspired looks for player characters, Call of Duty has gone wild. Whether it’s musical artist Nicki Minaj, a spooky clown, or literally just a walking shrubbery, skins have gotten increasingly wacky in the game.

That’s not necessarily changing, but this approach does have some benefits. Three of the most iconic characters in gaming are set to come to Black Ops 6 as operator skins.

Gears of War, Doom, and Halo skins coming to Black Ops 6

Skins of Marcus Fenix, the Doomslayer, and the Master Chief are reportedly coming to Black Ops 6

The news comes from Nick Baker of the Xbox Era Podcast. Baker has scooped the official reveal of several Fortnite skins, including some surprise additions like Avatar: The Last Airbender. The podcaster posted what appears to be a Discord chatlog from January 2024 with someone claiming the three characters were coming to Call of Duty. Baker co-signed the sentiment and added that he had previously heard that the Master Chief was meant to arrive in Modern Warfare 3.

The arrival of Marcus Fenix, the Doomslayer, and the Master Chief to Black Ops 6 isn’t an enormous surprise.

With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, and Doom are all under the same ownership umbrella. Halo and Gears of War are arguably the most iconic Xbox Games IPs. Meanwhile, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media in 2021. This brought series including The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Doom under Microsoft’s umbrella.

These characters are far from being exclusive, either. All three have appeared in Fortnite, as well as various other games.

There’s also some opportunity for cross-promotion with this. Doom: The Dark Ages was announced with a 2025 release date and having the Doomslayer appear in Black Ops 6 is a solid way to promote the game.

There’s no specified release window for these skins but in the meantime, players can look forward to the eventual arrival of new Call of Duty League skins, and some wackier offerings through the battle pass.
