The release date for Civ 7 has been officially revealed alongside confirmation of pre-order bonuses and the contents of special editions.
Civilization games are a staple of PC gaming. While the games always had a dedicated fanbase, the normalization of modding and a console release for Civilization 6 have seen the series boom in popularity. The result is more anticipation than ever before for Civilization 7.
2K Games had previously announced that Civilization 7 would be released in Q1 of 2025 but an exact release date has been revealed by Firaxis. The announcement was made at Gamescom 2024, with a simultaneous release across all platforms being confirmed.
Civ 7 release date revealed at Gamescom 2024
Civ 7 will be released on February 11, 2025 for all consoles and PC.
Ahead of the official announcement, notable leaker billbil-kun on X stated that Civilization 7 will be released on February 11, 2025, for some consoles. Hours later, Firaxis confirmed the full lineup of platforms and confirmed that the game would be released on PC through Steam on the same day.
A simultaneous release across all platforms is a first for the series. Civilization 6 landed on Nintendo Switch more than two years after its PC release, and then Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when the game was three years old. Prior to this, the last mainline entry in the series to hit consoles was Civilization 2, which arrived on PlayStation 1 roughly three years after its PC release.
All Civilization 7 platforms confirmed
Civ 7 will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
While it wasn’t specified which Xbox platforms the game would be available on, the Microsoft Store confirms that the game will land on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles. This should be a relief for Xbox gamers, who have seen multiplatform releases skipping Xbox One, and even Xbox Series X/S.
Perhaps more surprising is a Nintendo Switch release. Nintendo is reportedly already manufacturing next-gen consoles and only a handful of notable releases remain for the console. Despite that, Firaxis is set to release the game on Nintendo Switch. This likely positions it as one of the final AAA releases for the console, alongside games like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Civilization 7 Deluxe Edition, Founders Editions details and prices
Civ 7 will have two premium editions; the Deluxe Edition and Founders Edition.
The PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC versions will start at $69.99 at launch. The standard version will have the full game but players will be able to access it on February 11, 2025. The deluxe version of the game is priced at $99.99 but will give players 5 days of early access along with the full game. There will also be the premium Civilization 7: Founders Edition, which costs $129.99. The price tag for the Nintendo Switch versions will be $10 cheaper across the board.
All editions of Civilization 7 are offering a playable civilization as a pre-order bonus; Tecumseh and the Shawnee. This will be bundled in as part of the Deluxe Edition and Founders Edition after launch.
Civilization 7: Deluxe Edition will include the Tecumseh and the Shawnee pack alongside post-launch content that includes new civilizations, world wonders, leader personas, and cosmetic items for player profiles and units. The Founders Edition includes everything from the Deluxe Edition alongside two extra leader personas, four profile items, and cosmetic items for the fog of war and palace.
