Fans got a first look at Amazon Prime’s upcoming video game anthology show, Secret Level, but what is it actually about and which games are going to be featured?
Video game adaptations have entered a renaissance in recent years. With the unexpected success of Detective Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog, the way was paved for more ambitious adaptations. Since then, Arcane and The Last of Us have shown that video game stories stand up to prestige television.
With countless video games to adapt, it’s hard for fans to decide which franchises to rally for an adaptation. However, one series looks to adapt multiple games in one fell swoop. At Gamescom 2024, Tim Miller, creator of Love, Death, and Robots, revealed the teaser trailer for Secret Level.
What is Amazon Prime’s Secret Level show?
Secret Level is a 15-episode video game anthology series, wherein each episode focuses on a different game.
The gorgeously animated teaser does seem to imply a framing device connecting these individual video game stories. Miller emphasizes that Secret Level is a love letter to video games, and the quality of the animation and direction reflects that.
Blur Studio has a laundry list of iconic credits, from Love, Death, and Robots to the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. It has also worked on CG trailers for games like Valorant and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. As far as hype goes, Blur Studio has quite the resume, and the following games will benefit from the team’s talents.
Secret Level set to feature games including God of War, Armored Core
Secret Level is set to feature a star-studded lineup of games including God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, and Armored Core.
The full lineup of games that will appear as part of Amazon’s Secret Level show has not been confirmed, but there are already more than a dozen of the most iconic video game franchises in history. Alongside them are breakout hits from recent years including Armored Core and Sifu.

The PlayStation brand was also teased, but only God of War and Ghost of Tsushima were seen in the trailer.
When is the release date of Amazon Prime’s Secret Level show?
Secret Level will premiere on December 10, 2024.
Currently, it is unknown what the release format for Secret Level will be. Typically, Amazon Prime shows drop the first three episodes of a series. Afterward, the series will have a single weekly episode until it finishes the season.
However, it is unknown how that will work with an anthology-style show like Secret Level. Regardless, the trailer alone has given video game fans something epic to look forward to.
