Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk is launching soon and Game Freak is wooing players back in with Darkrai and shiny Lucario mystery gifts, alongside a Palkia and Dialga Tera Raid event.
The Indigo Disk is set to add a lot to the gen-nine Pokemon experience. Players will be able to finally uncover the mystery of the Great Crater of Paldea, and catch a load of Pokemon including all past-gen starters, a bunch of throwback legendaries, and some completely new ones. Oh, and it’s going to actually make players learn how to play Pokemon by forcing them into the more complex and strategic double-battle format.
To get players back into the Paldea region, Game Freak is offering players loads of rare and highly sought-after Pokemon. Here’s how to get all of them, and how long there is to get them.
Shiny Lucario and Darkrai mystery gift codes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Players can get a shiny Lucario and Darkrai via mystery gift in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The two Pokemon aren’t bundled and there are different conditions attached to either. The good news is that purchasing the DLC is not required to get them.
Darkrai is available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet via mystery gift using the code NEWM00N1SC0M1NG. It is available until Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 23:59 UTC.
A shiny Lucario is also available via mystery gift with the code SH1NYBUDDY. The Pokemon is available until Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 23:59 UTC.
As ever when receiving mystery gifts, make sure to save immediately after receiving them. If the mystery gift code is redeemed and then the game is shut off without saving, players will not be able to receive the mystery gift again.
Both of these Pokemon come in a Cherish Ball and have the Classic Ribbon, which denotes them as “the Pokemon Fan” when being sent into battle. Though Lucario is a fan-favorite Pokemon, Darkrai and other mythical Pokemon are almost exclusively available via timed events. Players can get a Darkrai at-will in Pokemon Legends: Arceus for players that have Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, but only after advancing deep into the game.
How to beat Palkia and Dialga in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid event
Palkia and Dialga can both be easily defeated by using an optimized Sylveon, or almost any other powerful fairy-type Pokemon.
Though Darkrai and shiny Lucario can be had without any difficulty for players, that’s not the case with the Diamond and Pearl cover legendaries. Don’t worry, though. While events like the recent Eevee Tera Raid event required specific Pokemon built in specific ways to win, that’s not the case here. Palkia and Dialga are relatively humble five-star raids, meaning the Pokemon are only level 75 instead of 100. This means they don’t hit as hard, and have significantly lower health pools than seven-star Pokemon.
A Sylveon with maxed HP and Sp. Attack stats, the Pixilate ability, and a Fairy Tera Type can Hyper Voice its way to victory over either the Palkia or Dialga. There’s no overly complicated strategy required. Belly Drum Azumarill is another option that many players who regularly do raids already have ready, but any bulky fairy-type Pokemon can do the trick.
After defeating Palkia or Dialga, players have a 100% catch rate on it, letting them catch it in whatever type of Poke Ball they want. This is a great opportunity to catch the Pokemon in a stylish Premier Ball or an eye-catching Apricorn ball.
Don’t wait too long, though. The Palkia and Dialga Tera Raid event ends on December 21, 2023, at 23:59 UTC.
