Disney Dreamlight Valley’s adding Timon, Pumbaa, and much more

Timon and Pumbaa in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Gameloft has detailed plans for Disney Dreamlight Valley with its next content roadmap, which includes the additions of Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King.

The current roadmap is set to end very shortly with an August update. Said update will add free The Princess and the Frog-themed content to the game, including Tiana as a villager. In addition, it will bring a conclusion to the paid season pass story content, with players set to foil the schemes of the sorcerer Jafar. At the time of writing, the August update lacks an exact release date.

In a blog post on the official Disney Dreamlight Valley website, Gameloft has listed off early details on what to expect for the rest of 2024, including cross-platform multiplayer for PlayStation owners.

When will Timon and Pumbaa be added to Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Timon and Pumbaa are scheduled to arrive as villagers in Disney Dreamlight Valley in an October update. This also means the Lion King Realm will be seeing new content.

Details are slim, but the blog post mentions an invasion from a new threat called Night Mites. Whatever these are, they are said to be connected to the Night Thorns and the Forgetting, the event which kickstarted the plot of the game. No doubt Timon and Pumbaa will need help recovering their memories, much like many other characters who’ve appeared thus far.

Timon and Pumbaa won’t be alone. In its new roadmap, Gameloft also teased that players will “stitch a new mystery together” in late 2024. The accompanying image features a mannequin wearing a dress that resembles the one worn by Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Given Jack Skellington is already a character in the game, perhaps this is a hint that Sally will join him. Or at least the new content will be Halloween-related.

When will Disney Dreamlight Valley cross-platform multiplayer be available for PlayStation players?

Disney Dreamlight Valley on PlayStation is slated to receive cross-platform multiplayer in late August.

Though Timon and Pumbaa are the most eye-catching of the upcoming additions to Disney Dreamlight Valley, the most substantive for many will be more technical. While cross-play exists for every other version of the game, it’s been conspicuously absent from the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions. As of the next update, though, PlayStation owners will finally get to play alongside their friends on Xbox or Nintendo Switch.

Disney Dreamlight Valley content roadmap for 2024

Cross-save functionality on PlayStation won’t be included in the update, but Gameloft has promised this will become available later this year. The developer is also promising more multiplayer options in 2025, but has refrained from hinting at what they could be.

In addition, Gameloft has so far only promised further improvements to the game based on player feedback. For example, it will be updating the Furniture and Wardrobe menus to improve item management. More concrete information should be shared for future content and updates during an upcoming livestream, but Gameloft hasn’t provided a date for it.
