Pokemon TCG Pocket might be the new darling for The Pokemon Company, but TCG Live is what the real players play. Building a deck is often easier said than done, though.
Pokemon TCG Live requires codes to unlock digital versions of physical cards within the app. Every physical pack of Pokemon cards comes with a code that offers more digital cards. But not everyone wants to raid retail stores for booster packs, or put up that much cash. Luckily there are a few ways to get codes for free.

Players have a number of different options to get free codes for Pokemon TCG Live, through both official and unofficial means. Though none will instantly max out a player’s inventory, they can provide an occasional batch of rewards for regular players. Here are the best methods for getting free codes in Pokemon TCG Live.

If a player isn’t already subscribed to the official Pokemon newsletter, they can opt in to receive the emails to receive a code for three in-game packs when a new set is released.
This is quite easy. Trainers can go to Pokemon’s official website and sign up. There will be a section for receiving marketing emails in the preferences menu. These marketing emails will sometimes include codes for Pokemon TCG Live. These typically give players three booster packs from the latest expansion.
Twitch drops
During special events like the World Championship, Pokemon will often team up with Pokemon-focused content creators to put on fun streams and activities. Oftentimes, these streams will offer free promo codes and other prizes for different Pokemon games, including TCG Live. To take part in this, trainers will have to:
- Log into Pokemon Trainer Club account
- Make sure it’s linked to their Twitch account

Tournament organizers, content creators, and competitive players can create unofficial tournaments within Pokemon TCG Live. Participating competitors who perform well will often receive prizes. These prizes typically include codes for in-game packs to open.
