The 2024 Pokemon World Championships is coming soon and it’s bringing all of the top Pokemon players together for a weekend of intense tournaments and fun activities for viewers.
Worlds is the culmination of a season’s worth of competitions, with competitive players in the trading card game, video game, Pokemon Unite, and Pokemon GO collecting as many Competitive Points as possible to qualify for the large international event at the end of the 2024 season. This year, Worlds will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii and has a very bubbly, vacation feel.
There will definitely be cute activities that coincide with this theme both in-person and online, but there will also be fierce competition between the best of the best. Here’s how to catch it all.
Pokemon World Championship dates and schedule
The Pokemon World Championships run from August 16 to 18.
Ahead of this, fans can tune in to the Worlds Preview Show on August 9 at 4 pm ET, 1 pm PT on Twitch. It will also break down the metagame for each game and discuss what to each for during the tournaments. Throughout, there will also be Twitch Polls and questions on X.

Pokemon World Championship activities for both attendees and fans at home
There are a lot of ways for fans to get involved even if they aren’t competing in Hawaii. Here are some of the activities that are available during Worlds.
Fantasy Teams
Invested trainers can build fantasy teams for both the TCG and VGC on the official Pokemon website, picking six Pokemon that they think will dominate the events. Players need to build their lineup from different curated sets of options.
- First 10,000 registrants in the US/2,000 in Canada: 15% off at the Pokemon Center
- Prizes for top Fantasy Teams, including a giant Arcanine Poke Plush for first place, Pikachu promo cards for the top 100
Stream Rewards
The streams for the Pokemon World Championship will feature prizes including redemption codes Twitch drops. Items will include a Special Illustration Rare Pecharunt-ex in TCG Live and 2023 Pokemon Senior Division VGC champion Tomoyo Ogawa’s Sylveon in Pokemon Scarlet or Violet. There will also be Twitch drops for Pokemon GO, TCG, and Unite throughout the weekend.
This isn’t the first time this sort of promotion has been run. During the 2023 World Championship, event research missions were available in Pokemon GO for viewers. Meanwhile, redemption codes were offered for Pokemon TCG Live for a special ultra-rare Charizard-ex from the Obsidian Flames expansion.
Notably, offering Ogawa’s Sylveon comes at the expense of champion Shohei Kimura, who won the 2024 Masters Division championship. It was revealed by a Pokemon cheat manufacturer that Kimura’s team included an Amoonguss that was created using cheats.
