Genshin Impact: The best Emilie build, weapons, and artifacts

genshin impact emilie

Emilie might not be the best fit for every team like some other sub-DPS characters in Genshin Impact, but with the right build, artifacts, and party composition, she can definitely make her presence felt.

Before Natlan hits the scene, a new Fontaine character will make her debut. Emilie joins the roster as a Dendro Polearm off-field Sub-DPS. While there are already too many sub-DPS available in the game already, what makes her unique is that her kit is tailor-made for the Burning reaction. Since there aren’t any other characters focused on this reaction, she fits a previously empty niche.

Even though Burning isn’t Genshin Impact’s strongest reaction, Emilie has the potential to make the most of it with the right build and team composition.

How to play Emilie in Genshin Impact

Emilie’s kit centers around the Burning reaction. This sets her apart from other Dendro characters in Genshin Impact, who are built around the Quicken and Bloom reactions.

Despite being a Dendro unit that mainly relies on elemental reaction, Emilie scales off ATK and not elemental mastery. That’s because she doesn’t directly deal damage through the Burning reaction. Instead, she uses it to boost her overall DPS.

Emilie’s elemental skill is the bread-and-butter of her kit. Her Lumidouce Case periodically fires Puffs of Puredew at enemies, causing them to receive Dendro damage. It starts at level one but can be upgraded to level two, which increases her damage output. To reach level two, Emilie needs to collect Scents dropped by enemies under the Burning effect. Her ultimate takes things further by upgrading her Lumidouce Case to level 3, which is the most powerful version.

With that all said, Burning plays a huge role in her kit and neglecting Emilie of her best artifacts and weapons simply cuts her potential. Hence, she is best played with Pyro units who can trigger Burning alongside Emilie. Not only does it enhance her elemental skill, but it also lets her inflict more Burning damage based on the amount of ATK she has.

Emilie best artifacts sets in Genshin Impact

Unfinished Reverie, Deepwood Memories, and Golden Troupe are among the best artifacts to give Emilie.

When it comes to artifacts, there are several options available in the game. However, it is best to equip ones that can boost her ATK, Elemental Skill, and Dendro damage. Apart from reaching the highest character and talent levels, players must also secure the right set of artifacts to make her viable.

Unfinished Reverie is arguably the best, if not the perfect, artifact set for an optimized Emilie build. While she’s off-field, it boosts her damage by 50%. However, Emilie must be able to maintain the Burning status on the opponents to not lose the buff. The Dendro sub-DPS though won’t have any issue with this thanks to her elemental skill that has 100% uptime. On top of that, this set provides ATK% where most of her damage scales off.

Deepwood Memories is also a solid alternative for Emilie. It gives Dendro a damage bonus and shreds the Dendro resistance of the opponents affected by her Elemental skill or burst. This is a generally good pick for Emilie, even in teams that don’t focus on the Burning reaction, such as Quicken comp. This effect also works even though Emilie is not on the field.

Finally, Golden’s Troupe could also work as it boosts Emilie’s elemental skill damage which is the main focus of her kit. Equipping the full set gives her a +45% elemental skill damage boost, or up to +70% when she’s off-field.

Emilie’s best possible weapons in Genshin Impact

The best Genshin Impact weapons for Emilie are Lumidouce Elegy (5-star), Calamity Queller (5-star), Staff of Homa (5-star), Deathmatch (4-star) and Missive Windspear  (4-star).

Each of these weapons offers boosts to her damage, which synergizes with her DPS from burning. Here’s what each one has to offer, and how to build out Emilie with each weapon.

Lumidouce Elegy

Lumidouce Elegy is a Crit rate polearm weapon and when paired with the right artifacts, it’s comfortably Emilie’s best-in-slot weapon. It gives a +15% ATK bonus, at most +36% damage increase to Burning opponents, and 12 Energy. All these attributes are important to Emilie to augment the damage that she can dish out. Moreover, the energy given by this weapon makes building her much easier as players will worry less about Energy Recharge substats.

Calamity Queller

Calamity Queller is the second-best five-star weapon for Emilie. Both the weapon’s substats and passive effects enhance her ATK, particularly when she’s not on the field. Additionally, this polearm boasts the highest base ATK. Players won’t have any trouble stacking their ATK to around 2400 with this weapon equipped, and they will be able to focus on finding artifacts with better crit values.

Staff of Homa

Staff of Homa is a strong option for any polearm wielder and while it doesn’t fit into an optimized Emilie build, she still gets plenty out of it. She won’t get much benefit from the +20% HP it provides, but it offers a whopping +66.2% Crit damage, on top of the ATK bonus from its passive.

Deathmatch

Any polearm weapon with Crit substats is a great pick for Emilie, like Deathmatch. Deathmatch is one of the most useful 4-star weapons in Genshin Impact, thanks to the crit rate and attack substats that it offers. Although it can be somewhat costly to reach its maximum refinement, it is well worth the investment, especially for ATK-scaling units like Emilie.

Missive Windspear

Although it falls slightly short compared to five-star options, Missive Windspear is the top choice among four-star polearms for Emilie. In addition to its ATK substats, its passive effect provides even more of a boost when triggering elemental reactions.

Best team compositions for Emilie in Genshin Impact

The best team compositions for using Emilie are all-in Burning teams or a mixed BurnMelt lineup.

Though Emilie is powerful, she fits a specific niche in Genshin Impact even when she has her best weapons and artifacts. In order to utilize her to the utmost, calls for teammates that synergize with her Burning-focused abilities. Here are the best options available.

All-in on Burning team composition with Arlecchino, Kazuha, Bennett, and Emilie

The best team composition for Emilie features Arlecchino, Kazuha, and Bennett.

Emilie’s elemental skill, Lumidouce Case, is where all her damage comes from. Since this ability works without Emilie taking the field, she can serve as the off-field sub-DPS of the team, paired with Pyro characters to keep the uptime of the Burning reaction.

In this lineup, she will require a strong Pyro on-field main DPS such as Arlecchino. She deals tons of damage with her normal attacks, letting Emilie trigger Burning and deal extra damage at the same time. Both of these characters will serve as the main source of damage of the team. Meanwhile, Kazuha and Bennett take the slots as the buffer and healer of the team. The lack of Electro, Cryo, Hydro, and Geo elements ensures that no other reactions interfere with Burning and Pyro Swirl.

Best BurnMelt composition for Emilie with Xiangling, Bennett, and Wriothesley

For certain Emilie build, a BurnMelt team comp with Wriothesley, Xiangling, and Bennett may be best.

Wriothesley becomes the main DPS of the team and can unleash flurries of Cryo punches on enemies. For maximum damage, triggering the Melt reaction by pairing Cryo with Pyro is the way to go.

Though Genshin Impact is years old now, there still isn’t any great off-field character that can consistently apply the Pyro element. Xiangling’s Guoba and Pyronado’s pyro application is slow enough that she will end up triggering the Melt reaction instead of Wriothesley. A solid workaround to this is the Burning reaction. By combining Dendro and Pyro, players can apply Pyro more reliably than with Xiangling alone. Emilie’s elemental skill is perfect for the Dendro slot in this composition. With the Burning reaction present, she can contribute damage on top of the output from Wriothesley.

To round out the team, slot in Bennett as the Pyro buffer and healer. He’s the ideal choice since he can boost ATK, which is great for Wriothesley, Xiangling, and Emilie, all of whom scale off ATK.
