Kaiju No 8 just dropped a teaser trailer for Season 2 and fans can’t wait to see what’s next for the action-packed shonen anime.
Long-running shonen manga like My Hero Academia ended in 2024, and fans wonder which series would be the heir apparent. Though there are new installments confirmed for long-running series like Dragon Ball Daima and anime spin-offs like Terminator Zero, newer IPs have faced an uphill climb.
While Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man have wowed anime fans, Kaiju No 8 is no slouch for thrilling anime action. Set in a world where Kaiju roams and ravages, an elite force named the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force shields the people from these monstrous threats.
Hibino Kafka once dreamed of joining them one day. Unfortunately, his chance passed, so he works a menial job as part of the Kaiju cleanup crew. However, a fateful encounter turns him into a half-Kaiju, and he uses these powers for good while hiding his secret from his superiors. After the airing of Kaiju No 8’s season finale, a follow-up was announced.
When is the release date for Kaiju No 8 Season 2?
Kaiju No 8 Season 2 will premiere in 2025.
Amusingly, the announcement date of August 5 also coincided with protagonist Hibino Kafka’s birthday. Production IG has not announced an exact release date, but the quick greenlight hints that Season 1 was a commercial success. Besides Season 2, Production IG also confirmed the development of an OVA titled “Hoshina’s Day Off,” which will screen alongside a Season 1 compilation film in 2025.
Season 1 covered Chapters 1 through 38 of the manga, so fans expect Season 2 to pick up from there. Some longtime readers worry about Season 2’s pace as the manga slows down quite a bit. Currently, there are no details on how far Season 2 will cover. With over 100 chapters, however, there’s no danger of the anime overtaking the manga anytime soon.
Where can I watch Kaiju No 8 Season 2?
Crunchyroll will stream Kaiju No 8 Season 2, and an English Dub has been confirmed.
Kaiju No 8 is the first-ever anime to stream its episodes worldwide on X (formerly known as Twitter) simultaneously with Japan. Whether Season 2 will follow this format remains a mystery, but those without Crunchyroll hope the tradition sticks.
