Dead by Daylight just announced a crossover with FNAF, but who will represent the franchise as killer and survivor?
If ever there was a Smash Bros or Fortnite for horror, Dead by Daylight could make quite a case for itself. With multiple iconic horror villains in its roster of killers, Dead by Daylight doesn’t lack for guest characters. Still, one franchise remained strangely out of reach, even as Silent Hill, Alan Wake, and Resident Evil entered the fold. That elusive franchise is Five Nights at Freddy’s.
The two games have a lot of crossover potential, and the latter has plenty of animatronics to choose from as killers. Even so, the crossover never happened during the heyday of both games. Still, fans wanted it to happen, and many polls voted for FNAF as the next franchise to guest in the hide-and-seek horror simulator. But now, with one game getting the movie treatment and the other not far behind, the crossover is happening for Five Nights at Freddy’s and Dead by Daylight.
When is the release date for Five Nights at Freddy’s DLC for Dead by Daylight?
The FNAF DLC will arrive as Dead by Daylight in Summer 2025. No exact release date was given.
The announcement alone was enough to generate a lot of hype among both fanbases. The official post from the Dead by Daylight social media account has garnered over 14 million views and 205,000 likes in mere hours. No other details about the crossover have been revealed so far, but speculation is already rampant.
When it comes to FNAF’s guest killer, fans are largely pointing to Springtrap as the best candidate for Dead by Daylight. Springtrap is the most iconic villain of the FNAF franchise, as the infamous “Purple Guy” and an “animatronic” to boot. The inclusion also synergizes with the 2023 film, which starred Springtrap as the main antagonist.
As for the Survivor, the troubled security guard Mike Schmidt is a popular choice, especially given his role in the 2023 film. Dead by Daylight is no stranger to getting the likeness of actors for Survivors, and Mike Schmidt would fit the role well. Another potential survivor would be Vanessa, a woman with mysterious ties to Springtrap.
For the map, the easy choice among fans would be Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, the first-ever map in the series. Given the claustrophobic nature of said map, it may prove an intense choice. With a massive crossover and a sequel film, 2025 is an exciting year for FNAF fans.
