As Wuthering Waves 1.1 nears its end, KuroGames has already given a sneak peek at the new characters coming after the 1.3 update; Youhu and The Shorekeeper.
Much like Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves teases upcoming characters through drip marketing, ahead of major updates. Drip marketing typically happens a few days or weeks before the new version launches, showcasing character designs and outlining their lore. This tactic is also meant to build hype and help players decide whether to spend their Astrites and Radiant Tides on the current banner or save them for the next one.
The recent drip marketing shared on Wuthering Waves’ socials revealed Youhu and the Shorekeeper as the next additions to the game’s roster. Although details are still scarce, multiple leaks have circulated online about their potential attributes, weapons, and abilities.
Wuthering Waves reveals 1.3 drip marketing reveals Youhu and The Shorekeeper
The Shorekeeper and Youhu are the upcoming playable characters for Wuthering Waves 1.3 as 5-star and 4-star characters, respectively.
Youhu, the skillful antiques expert from Huanglong, becomes the first four-star resonator released after version 1.0. From her color scheme and the icy snowflake on her outfit, all signs point to her being a Glacio unit. According to leaks, she is expected to wield the Gauntlet weapon and be an off-field sub-DPS with access to RNG-based damage boosts.
The second character is the Shorekeeper, the five-star Rectifier resonator from the Black Shores. Described as an enigmatic divine entity, she is expected to be a powerful individual both in lore and in-game. Leaks also suggest that The Shorekeeper will be a healer with a personal domain that boosts the damage of teammates inside of it. She is also said to have Spectro attributes, with a 30% chance to deal dual damage.
The details of this mechanic are still a bit unclear. There’s no other resonator in the game has this capability, but players will find out more once the Wuthering Waves 1.3 beta starts in a few weeks. Finally, the Shorekeeper may have the ability to transform into a butterfly, which could be useful during exploration.
While these leaks look promising, fans are advised to take these with a pinch of salt as they are subject to change.
When is the release date of Wuthering Waves 1.3?
Players can expect Wuthering Waves’ 1.3 update to arrive on September 26, 2024, with the second phase following on October 17, 2024.
It’s still a mystery whether Youhu and The Shorekeeper will show up in the first or second phase. And with only one five-star resonator announced for Wuthering Waves 1.3, it is likely that the other phase will feature a rerun banner. This could be either Jiyan or Yinlin, both characters from version 1.0, and their respective weapons.
