The Amazing Spider-Man has grazed Marvel Rivals with his presence, and we have the perfect guide for how to play him optimally.
Spider-Man is a duelist in Marvel Rivals. His playstyle involves quick entries and exits while doing as much damage as possible within that time frame. This takes skill and game knowledge to pull off properly. With a 5-star difficulty in the game, Spider-Man is one of the harder heroes of the game in play.
He’s a squishy character just like other duelists, and any mistake can be costly.
What kind of character is Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals?
Spider-Man wants to be slippery and annoying duelist character disrupting the opponent’s backline.
Most of the time, Spider-Man will be swinging around and shooting his webs. Once he sees an opportunity, he dives into action trying to finish the job before the enemy knows what hit them.
The perfect Spider-Man gameplay has three phases: poking, diving, and getting out. Poking happens as players use Spider-Man’s web shooter to an enemy hero at the backlines. Diving is when Spider-Man goes in to deal even more damage at close range. This is also the phase in which he might be able to get a kill. After that, it’s all about getting out using Spider-Man’s web swing.
Spider-Man also has combos that are integral to his kit. An easy combo to go for is something like Cyber-Web Cluster, Get Over Here!, Amazing Combo, Cyber-Web Cluster while in mid-air, and finish it off with a single punch from Spider-Power. Make sure to practice this in practice mode as combos are the main way Spider-Man finishes his opponents.
Repeat this process for as long as possible. Make sure that every time Spider-Man dives in, the enemy team feels the fear of what he can do.
All Spider-Man abilities explained
Spider-Man’s abilities perfectly complement his hit-and-run playstyle.
Spider-Man’s abilities revolve around being mobile at all times. His web-swing makes him an annoying target due to how fast he moves and how far he travels. A web-swinging Spider-Man on his way to the enemy backlines is easily one of the most terrifying things in Marvel Rivals.
Spider-Power
This ability is Spider-Man’s primary attack. It’s a two-punch combo that has a flying kick follow-up if the two punches hit. This ability deals more damage if the opponent has a Spider-Tracer attached to them.
Cyber-Web Cluster
This is the primary way opponents get attached with a Spider-Tracer. Spider-Man uses his web shooter to hit enemies from a distance. Once hit, the opponent gets stuck with a Spider-Tracer making them more vulnerable to Spider-Man’s attacks. This is usually how players will start their offense.
Spectacular Spin
This ability is Spider-Man’s ultimate. It’s similar to Reaper’s ultimate ability from Overwatch. However, Spider-Man can also stun opponents with this move if they get hit enough times. This is a highly damaging ability that can decimate backlines and leave enemy vanguards without strategists to heal them.
Web-Swing
Spider-Man’s most iconic move. This allows him to shoot a web upwards and swing in a direction. At first, it might be hard to control but a few matches should give players enough time to be comfortable with this ability.
This is how Spider-Man gets out and gets into the fight. Web-Swing has three charges, so it’s pretty forgiving if a mistake is made.
Get Over Here!
Aside from the obvious Mortal Kombat reference, this ability also does the same thing it references. The opponent hit by this ability pulls them to Spider-Man. But if the enemy has a Spider-Traced attached to them, Spider-Man pulls himself to their position instead and does a flying kick.
The best way to use this ability is to hit an enemy with a Cyber-Web Cluster first. Then use this ability to put Spider-Man in melee range and unleash hell upon the unfortunate victim.
Amazing Combo
This is another ability that is a part of Spider-Man’s combo. After getting hit by the Amazing Combo, it consumes the Spider-Tracer. The best thing to do after it gets consumed is to fire another Cyber-Web Cluster and hit the opponent with a normal attack for maximum damage.
Thwip And Flip
Another ability that boosts Spider-Man’s mobility. Thwip and Flip allows Spider-Man to double jump. This makes it easier for Spider-Man to reach places that might be impossible for other heroes.
Spider-Sense
Spider-Man’s passive. With Spider-Sense, Spider-Man can detect players within a certain range. This also activates for characters in stealth like Cloak & Dagger and Psylocke.
Wall Crawl
Spider-Man naturally has the ability to climb walls. The funny thing about this ability is that sometimes enemy players forget about this and don’t check ceilings. As such, it offers a blind spot for an explosive method of entry.
All of Spider-Man’s Team-Up abilities
Spider-Man’s team-up abilities give him a new way to fight his opponents. The only big team-up ability of Spider-Man involves being with Venom. Even then, it’s not influential enough to warrant a big change in how Spider-Man plays.
Suit Expulsion
This team-up ability is only available if Venom is on the same team as Spider-Man. Suit Expulsion gives Spider-Man an area-of-effect ability. This ability makes him an even bigger menace toward the enemy backlines.
Extra Web-Fluid
Only available when Squirrel Girl is on the same team. It’s not an active ability like Venom’s. It only increases Spider-Man’s damage by 10%. However, Squirrel Girl gets a new attack that can snare enemies.
