Ghost of Tsushima about to get a PC port? Here’s what was said

Ghost of Tsushima may come to the PC very soon and could mean exciting things for Sony’s future with PC ports.

Although franchise titles such as God of War, The Last of Us, and Spider-Man often dominate the conversation for PlayStation exclusives, Ghost of Tsushima carved out a niche for itself as a brand-new IP.  Upon its release, the action-adventure Ronin game received critical praise and saw commercial success.

In 2021, Sony announced a film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima, directed by Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame. With so much goodwill behind the game, Sony’s confidence in the title only grew. To expand the game’s influence further, Sony might be bringing the game to desktop screens.

Will Ghost of Tsushima receive a PC port?

Sony has not confirmed a Ghost of Tsushima PC port but reports suggest it’s coming soon.

Nick “Spheshal Nick” Baker of the XboxEra Podcast claims that news about the Ghost of Tsushima PC port will come on March 5, 2024. Baker reported on the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake before its official announcement and spoiled the contents of the State of Play event in February 2024.

Other reports corroborate this claim. In September 2021, web developer Ighor July found a way to access the list of Nvidia GeForce’s supported games, past, present, and most importantly, future. The list included God of War, Horizon: Forbidden West, and Helldivers 2, all of which have come out on PC since. The only Sony games yet to receive a PC port since the initial leak are Demon’s Souls, Gran Turismo 7, and Ghost of Tsushima.

Sony is also putting significant effort behind PC games in general. The company is taking a more active approach to porting games, which was confirmed in the Insomniac Games leak that also delivered numerous assets for the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game.

Is Ghost of Tsushima 2 in development?

Sony has not confirmed the development of Ghost of Tsushima 2.

Sucker Punch Studios also hasn’t announced any upcoming games since Ghost of Tsushima’s initial release. However, a few reports suggest the developers are working on something similar to Ghost of Tsushima. In 2020, Sucker Punch Studios released job listings looking for narrative writers with a “Desire to write stories set in feudal Japan.”

Not much else is known, but with the imminent PC port, Ghost of Tsushima fans may not have to wait very long. In the meantime, gamers looking for an action-adventure game set in historical Japan can play the “Elden Ringlike” Rise of the Ronin, coming out on March 22, 2024.
