Leaks for the Nintendo Switch 2 are popping up constantly, and new claims suggest that AAA games including Grand Theft Auto 6 will be coming to the platform on a regular basis.
Rumors are swirling about the Nintendo Switch 2, from what the hardware specs will be to how much the console will cost. Included now are rumors on what games will be finding a home on the newest Nintendo console. Fans of modern AAA titles should be excited if this proves true, as there have been multiple claims that the Switch 2 will be a true competitor to both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in terms of both graphical capabilities and its game selection.
Prominent Brazillian leaker “Necro Felipe” has added more to the discussion on what fans could possibly see on the Switch 2. Necro Felipe has previously reported on dates for upcoming Nintendo Direct events and mentioned the possibility of the Switch 2 having advanced ray-tracing capabilities before a recent leak from another individual.
He stated on Twitter that the Switch 2 could see “content parity” with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This would be a major coup for Nintendo, which has seen platforms all its consoles over the last 20 years typically miss out on major multi-platform releases.
Will Grand Theft Auto 6 be on Switch 2?
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be coming to Switch 2 alongside other major multi-platform titles, according to a notable leaker.
Necro Felipe was specifically asked about Grand Theft Auto 6 coming to the console. He gave a succinct “yes.” If he is correct, the Switch 2 may be the Nintendo console of gamers’ dreams.
A Nintendo console that can play the newest and best games on the market alongside Nintendo’s first-party catalog is something fans have craved for years. If Switch 2 will be powerful enough to stand in line with PlayStation and Xbox for current-gen releases it would allow fans the ability to only purchase a Switch 2 without the need for a “modern game console” as well.
As with all information on the Switch 2, everything about the console is still a rumor, with Nintendo having said nothing regarding the next-gen console. With multiple sources leaking equivalent information, it does lend more weight to what we know could be in the Nintendo Switch 2, but nothing is guaranteed as of yet. Fans can only wait until Nintendo itself announces the Switch 2.
Financial documents from Take-Two Interactive suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated to release sometime in 2024, though no specific release date is confirmed. Estimates have it coming out in September or October, which coincides with the reported release date of the Switch 2.
If the Switch 2 sees Grand Theft Auto 6 launch, it will be the first ever mainline GTA game released natively on a Nintendo console. This wouldn’t necessarily be outlandish as the Switch 2’s specs are estimated to be comparable to the PlayStation 4. Details on GTA6 are still scarce, but there’s a strong likelihood that the PS4 and Xbox One could receive the games as well given Rockstar’s willingness to port past GTA titles onto every possible platform.
Necro Felipe also commented that in addition to Grand Theft Auto 6, the Switch 2 could also expect to see games like the next Monster Hunter and Far Cry 7. Even though Monster Hunter has been prominently released on Nintendo consoles, Far Cry has only seen Far Cry: Vengence released on the Wii.
