Here’s the release date & details on Fortnite’s Gundam game mode

Fortnite x Gundam crossover

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance x Fortnite is happening as Bandai Namco announced the official collaboration including details on a new game mode.

Fortnite’s crossovers have become integral to the game’s continued success and 2024 shows no signs of stopping. Dozens of guest characters from popular musical artists to Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes have joined the fight in Fortnite. These bring a ton of hype for the guest franchises while attracting new players to the battle royale game.

However, most of these crossovers begin and end with character skins, with some unique animations here and there. However, the latest announcement from Bandai Namco at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 revealed a significantly more involved crossover between Fortnite and the upcoming Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.

Will Fortnite have a Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance game mode?

Fortnite will have a Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance game mode to commemorate the upcoming Netflix anime.

The new game mode will be a variant of Team Deathmatch mode, with an exciting win condition of piloting a Gundam. Players must collect points and assists to power up their respective mecha. Team EFSF has the Gundam EX, while Zeon Forces gets the Zaku II (Unidentified Type) Solari.

The collaboration between the Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance anime and Epic Games doesn’t stop at Fortnite. Bandai Namco Filmworks and SAFEHOUSE Inc. animated the show in Unreal Engine 5, and Epic Games, as Unreal Engine’s developer, is eager to show off its capabilities. After all, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance would be the highest-profile series animated in Unreal Engine 5 yet.

When will Fortnite launch its Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance game mode?

The release date for Fortnite’s Gundam: Requiem for a Vengeance is October 17, 2024, following the anime’s release. This release will put it into Chapter 6, which will bring major gameplay changes.

Although a few months removed, the early announcement means some Gundam fans may consider picking up Fortnite to get good before the game mode’s arrival. Epic Games may even tease more classic Gundam skins during the wait.

After all, Gundam is no stranger to crossovers. In 2024, Gundam crossed over with Call of Duty, featuring classic designs like the RX-78-2 and Char’s Zaku-II. A rollout of iconic Gundam characters would ease Gundam fans into the battle royale.
