The post-apocalyptic Fallout franchise may soon cross over with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Fallout has enjoyed an unexpected renaissance in 2024 thanks to its TV adaptation’s massive success. Fallout Season 2 was greenlit a mere week after the series debut topped 65 million viewers on Amazon Prime.
The show’s popularity also led to a massive spike in player count across all Fallout games. Fallout 76 boasted its highest numbers on Steam ever, and Fallout 4 consistently stayed in Steam’s Top 10 most-played games. It’s no coincidence that reports of a Fallout 5 have circulated amongst the fandom.
Fallout’s future looks bright and its presence is set to expand beyond just its own game series. In the meantime, Bethesda looks to capitalize on Fallout’s hype with some good old-fashioned crossovers.
Is Fallout coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
Data miners found evidence of Fallout DLC in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s code.
A Twitter account using the handle @CodWarfareForum claims to have found data strings referencing a potential Fallout crossover. Notably, the strings also reveal crossovers with Gundam and cult classic film The Crow.
Data miners have not found information about what these DLCs will contain. However, if it’s anything like past Call of Duty crossover DLCs, these will likely offer unique player cosmetics like player skins and weapon skins. Some of the most likely skins would have to be Brotherhood of Steel Knights decked out in power armor and the classic Vault dweller jumpsuit.
When is the release date for Fallout DLC in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
Sledgehammer Games has not confirmed a release date for the potential upcoming DLC.
However, fans likely won’t have to wait long for Season 4’s start date. The current season’s battle pass ends on May 29, 2024. Call of Duty games don’t usually have long hiatuses between seasons. The Fallout DLC will likely be released sometime in Summer 2024, given the typical release schedule for Modern Warfare 3.
This crossover DLC will bring even more eyes to Fallout and pave the way for future crossovers. With Black Ops 6’s potential announcement at the upcoming Xbox Showcase in June, the crossover can only mean good things for both franchises.
