NetherRealm Studios announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Mortal Kombat 1 will get a second character expansion with the Kombat Pack 2 DLC, and revealed the release date for its first fighter.
The Khaos Reigns DLC will continue the story of the reborn universe created by Fire God Liu Kang. With new additions like story chapters and the return of animalities, year two of Mortal Kombat 1 looks to be more promising than the first. Fans have a lot to look forward to, including a fresh DLC fighter lineup.
Here are the playable characters that come with the Kombat Pack 2 and the release date for the bundle.
Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns DLC characters include Ghostface, T-1000
The Kombat Pack 2 introduces six new playable characters to Mortal Kombat 1 universe, including some guest characters from famous IPs.
Direct from SDCC, the DLC lineup consists of:
- Conan the Barbarian
- Cyrax
- Ghostface
- Noob Saibot
- T-1000 Terminator
- Sektor
Players may have noticed new versions of Cyrax and Sektor, different from the existing Kameo support characters. In Khaos Reigns, the cyborgs are now fully human, switched to female forms, and are fully playable.
Additionally, some voice actors for the Kombat Pack 2 have already been announced at the panel. Erika Ishii, known for many roles including Valkyrie in Apex Legends and Rook in the upcoming Dragon Age: The Veilguard, will play Sektor. Meanwhile, veteran anime voice actor Kaiji Tang will voice Noob Saibot.
Kombat Pack 2 release date details
NetherRealm Studios stated in the official YouTube trailer that the Kombat Pack 2 will go live on September 24, but players can preorder the Khaos Reigns DLC now.
Cyrax, Noob Saibot, and Sektor will all come out at the start of Khaos Reigns. The other three will enter the game later, though the exact date is not currently known.
Players must already own Mortal Kombat 1 and there is no bundled version that includes the game with Kombat Pack 2. There will be two options for buying the Khaos Reigns pack. It can either be purchased as a basic DLC pack, including Kombat Pack 2 fighters and a new story expansion. Or it can be purchased in a bundle that also includes the first Kombat Pack for $59.99.
Not all online shops have been updated to reflect the new DLC’s announcement, but Mortal Kombat can be played on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Once they have, players can preorder Khaos Reigns with the Kombat Pack 2 and fight just like Ghostface would.
