Insomniac Games has been vocal about the size and scope of its upcoming Spider-Man 2 PS5 exclusive, but how long the game will be has some gamers feeling concerned.
One of the biggest stars in PlayStation’s first-party development studio lineup is Insomniac Games. The studio has been putting out great games for the platform and now is set to launch Spider-Man 2 on October 20. Naturally, fans are excited to know how long the latest adventure will last for. The game has double the map size of the first Spider-Men to play in, so expectations are high. Spider-Man 2 is also exclusively available on the PlayStation 5, truly making Spidey the headliner of Sony’s next generation of consoles.
Recently, Insomniac Games has been making tightly packed experiences that don’t overstay their welcome. Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart all took less than 50 hours to complete for most gamers. But how long will Spider-Man 2 be?
How long is Spider-Man 2?
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is looking to be about the same length as the first Spider-Man game, which took around 17-20 hours to complete.
Spider-Man 1’s campaign takes about 17 hours to complete in full. Gamers that indulge in the side missions spend around 25 hours playing as Spider-Man. The completionist route takes over 30 hours. Of course, the length depends on the playstyle as well. Some gamers take their sweet time playing games while others are on a tighter schedule.
Insomniac’s senior creative director Bryan Intihar has spoken on the game’s size.
“It’s not like we’ve doubled the size of the entire game,” Intihar said.

Spider-Man 2 does expand the available play area and includes the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn. While the map size is increased, the game’s story is apparently still fast-paced.
“We want to do what is right for the vision, the time, and attention you need to create that experience and also take care of our team,” Intihar added.
How long does it take to Platinum Spider-Man 2?
According to early leaks, Spider-Man 2 takes only 30 hours to Platinum.
A user posted a screengrab of a Tweet showing off a Spider-Man 2 Platinum trophy. The original tweet has since been deleted, putting some doubt on its legitimacy. But 30 hours is around the same time it takes to achieve the Platinum trophy in the first game.
Whether Spider-Man 2 is as long as the first game remains to be seen. It is however huge, coming at a whopping 98 GB file size on the PlayStation 5. The original game is half of that size, reaching only 45 GB on the PlayStation 4.
