The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta is coming to PlayStation consoles before arriving on Xbox and PC.
Despite Microsoft being set to acquire Activision in the near future through a $69 billion deal, the publisher’s most prominent franchise is still seemingly favoring PlayStation consoles. Modern Warfare 3 has a public beta test coming up in the near future, and Xbox players will have to wait while PlayStation owners try it first.
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 beta is still set to arrive on other platforms, only a little later. Usually closed or public beta progress doesn’t carry over to the retail release, so PlayStation players won’t have an advantage from a gameplay perspective. Still, the bitterness of the console wars is increasing and Xbox owners seem to keep losing even when Microsoft picks up wins.
Does the Modern Warfare 3 beta start on PlayStation first?
Yes, the Modern Warfare 3 public beta will release first on PlayStation consoles. This came via a leak on the Arabic-language PlayStation YouTube channel.
Media for the game noted that players can “play the demo first on PlayStation.” The word “demo” may be a mistranslation as precedent suggests that it will be a multiplayer public beta and not a traditional demo. The translated post also suggests that the demo will be available “at least five days before any other platform.”
Modern Warfare 2 had multiple beta periods, with the first one being exclusive to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners. PC and Xbox owners had a wait for the second weekend before they had access to the game. The second weekend was also available to PlayStation gamers.
When will the MW3 demo come out on Xbox and PC?
There is no official release date for when Modern Warfare 3 beta will be available on Xbox consoles or PC. The MW3 beta is seemingly set to start on PlayStation five days before it launches on Xbox and PC.
Modern Warfare 2 was released on November 10, 2022 and had 4 betas:
- Early Access – September 16-17.
- Open Beta – September 18-20.
- Open Beta – September 22-23.
- Open Beta – September 24-26.
It is unknown when any of the Modern Warfare 3 public beta tests will take place. Previous reports have indicated that they will take place in October. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 releases on November 10, 2023.
