A new round of teasers for Modern Warfare 3 failed to divulge much information, but they did finally give a firm release date.
Modern Warfare 3’s launch is on the horizon but not too much info has actually come out on the game. A series of leaks that revealed the game’s logo and minor details, but that Captain Price was returning, but that’s about it. Things are finally starting to change, though.
After an influencer campaign revealed that slide cancels are coming back to Call of Duty, Activision finally gave fans a definite release date for the next installment of the series. The news was revealed in a short video posted across the company’s social media channels.
When Is Modern Warfare 3 Coming Out in 2023?
The Modern Warfare 3 release date is November 10, 2023. The release will likely be preceded by closed and public beta tests in October.
The release date confirmation comes from a teaser trailer that features a communique between Captain Price and Phillip Graves. Graves is the boss of Shadow Company and is supposed to be dead after the events of Modern Warfare 2. In the trailer, he states “never bury your enemies alive,” so it seems like the evil boss is set for a comeback. The trailer also warns the players, “The ultimate threat awaits.”
The November 10 release date confirms longstanding rumors about the game, as well as a leak that occurred during the court proceedings surrounding Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Will Modern Warfare 3 Be Any Good?
Modern Warfare 3 will look to hit the same highs the original Modern Warfare trilogy reached with both fans and critics.
A lot is riding on developer Sledgehammer Games. The studio assisted Infinity Ward with Modern Warfare 2 in 2022, but will serve as the main developer for the next installment. Infinity Ward has traditionally helmed the Modern Warfare titles while Treyarch handles Black Ops.
Going by the order, this year should’ve been the year of Black Ops, but Activision had other plans. Modern Warfare 2019 was warmly received by fans, but it will be even harder to please fans with the third installment.
With Infinity Ward assisting and slide cancel back in action, the game could get back to its roots. There is no word about the single-player campaign but fans likely got their first taste of the story with this teaser trailer.
While fans now know the Modern Warfare 3 release date and have an idea of what will happen in the campaign, the next question is which platforms the game will come out on. It’s expected that the game will arrive on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC.
