Not all heroes are created equal, and some featured in Marvel Rivals have seasonal bonuses to help them rise above the pack.
The new superhero shooter Marvel Rivals has taken off since debuting in early December. Many have praised the game for its free-to-play model, more affordable skins than similar games like Overwatch, and generally enjoyable experience. As more time passes, other features are coming to light that could change how some players feel about the game.
Here’s what to expect from seasonal bonuses in Marvel Rivals, as well as which of players’ favorite heroes get a boost in Season 0.
What are seasonal bonuses in Marvel Rivals?
Seasonal bonuses are intentional meta shifts meant to make certain Marvel Rivals characters better in certain seasons.
Each hero receives a bonus type depending on their character class. Tanky vanguards get extra health, damage-dealing duelists get damage bonuses, and supportive strategists get boosts to healing. The exact amount of each bonus varies. Additionally, any bonuses in one season disappear when the next one begins.
Some players find that these extra additions can be the make or break in a game. In the long term, seasonal bonuses could provide a freshness to the game. However, it could also be frustrating to those who feel like their main character is being soft-nerfed.
An important note is that seasonal bonuses are activated at all times during the game. Some confusion within the Marvel Rivals community has arisen over the belief that seasonal bonuses can only be utilized during Team-Ups. Part of the reason is that heroes with bonuses are, on purpose or accidentally, listed as Team-Up anchors. However, characters with seasonal bonuses are only dependent on themselves.
Every seasonal bonus available in Season 0
In Season 0, 14 different heroes have seasonal bonuses that range in magnitude and ability.
Almost half of the current Marvel Rivals roster has a seasonal bonus for the game’s launch. The boosted vanguards all have between 100 and 150 additional max health. Boosted duelists, meanwhile, deal 10 to 20% more damage this season. Finally, any strategists with seasonal bonuses can heal an extra 5 to 15%.
All heroes with seasonal bonuses can be found in the character selection screen. Their image has a small yellow icon in the bottom right of the screen. Here’s a list of who players can expect to see boosted this season:
Hero | Bonus |
Adam Warlock | +15% healing boost |
Bruce Banner/Hulk | +150 maximum health |
Cloak & Dagger | +15% healing boost |
Groot | +150 maximum health |
Hawkeye | +20% damage boost |
Hela | +20% damage boost |
Iron Fist | +15% damage boost |
Luna Snow | +15% healing boost |

Marvel Rivals Season 0 ends at some point in January 2025, with no exact date given yet. All of the seasonal bonuses will be reset for new characters upon the beginning of the official first season. Players may have to say goodbye to their high HP Hulk main, but this gives other popular heroes a chance to shine.
