Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to PS5 and PC, here’s how we know

Konami teased that Metal Gear Solid 4 may be coming to PS5 and PC, and fans are excited to replay Solid Snake’s final mission.

After a decade away from video games, Konami has returned to its vast library with a plethora of remakes, remasters, and spin-offs. While Silent Hill has already begun its revival, Metal Gear Solid has yet to re-enter the ring. However, that won’t last as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater releases later in 2024.

The extensive remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 has fans cautiously excited. Given how Konami handled the Metal Gear Solid franchise when Hideo Kojima left, fans have a reason to be wary. However, Konami looks to be taking its revival efforts seriously. In addition to the upcoming remake, Konami also teased a remaster of Metal Gear Solid 4.

Is Metal Gear Solid 4 coming to PS5 and PC?

Konami hinted that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC through Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2.

Although Konami representatives never outright confirm it, their cheeky answers practically do. In an interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura talked about what’s coming to Master Collection Volume 2.

“We are definitely aware of this situation with MGS4. Unfortunately, we can’t say too much at the moment with Volume 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot dot…you can probably connect the dots!” said Okamura.

In addition to the tease, data miners reportedly found the list of games included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2. Hidden files in Volume 1 revealed data about Metal Gear Solid 4, 5, and Peace Walker. Still, MGS4 for PC and PS5 is big news for longtime fans.

Metal Gear Solid 4 celebrated its 16th anniversary in 2024. The game was originally released on the PlayStation 3 to critical acclaim and since then, has remained locked up on the console. The game lacks a proper remaster or remake for modern consoles. Worse, the game has effectively been left in limbo due to the lack of backwards compatibility for PS3 games. An MGS4 port for PC and PS5 would do a lot towards pulling back old fans to the franchise.

If Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater performs well, it could also mean a full-on remake for Metal Gear Solid 4 is possible in the future. Regardless, fans likely won’t have to wait long for the official announcement from Konami.
