After a long wait, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 has been confirmed by Konami but we already knew what games it was set to include.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 broke what was a painfully long rest for the Metal Gear Solid franchise. After Hideo Kojima and Konami went through their messy divorce and after Metal Gear Survive cratered in 2018, the series seemed like it might be doomed. Konami largely walked away from video game development at that point, leaving Metal Gear, Castlevania, Suikoden, and Silent Hill in an awkward limbo.
That stretch was broken in 2023 with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, but the “Volume 1” that accompanied it has always stuck out to fans. Though Konami was long quiet about any kind of follow-up to the compilation, that changed at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 confirmed by Konami at TGS 2025
Metal Gear Solid series producer Noriaki Okamura confirmed that Master Collection Volume 2 is in development. During the Tokyo Game Show, Okamura discussed the current state of the compilation and gave fans positive word regarding its development. The discussion began with him reiterating that a second volume is indeed coming.
“It has certainly taken quite a while now. Since we called the first instalment ‘Volume 1,’ it’s only natural to expect a second one, and that’s what we said years ago. But, as we’ve repeated several times, we are making it,” Okamura said.
He followed up by discussing the current state of the compilation’s development.
“We’ve been working on it properly while also producing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater…I’m sorry, it feels like I always have to say this, but please wait just a little longer. How long ‘a little longer’ actually means, it’s hard to say,” Okamura added.
Unfortunately for fans of the classic MGS games, it’s effectively impossible to predict a release date for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2. While Konami’s return to gaming has been generally successful in terms of game quality, the cadence of releases has been a major issue.
The Suikoden 1 and 2 Remaster was initially announced for a 2023 release. Instead, the games weren’t released until 2025. Alongside this was public criticism of Konami by Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno. Babieno blasted Konami’s marketing of the Silent Hill 2 remake, which his studio developed. He also bristled over Konami holding back its release, indicating it was ready in 2023. It ultimately wasn’t released until late 2024.
It’s unclear how far along Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 is in its development. Even if it’s done right now, there’s not necessarily any guarantee it’s coming out soon.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 games leaked by Konami
The first Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection leaked the lineup of games in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2.
Data mines of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 contained references to a variety of games that were not included in the bundle. This effectively leaked the lineup of games coming in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2.
The list of games is as follows:
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
- Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
- Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
With this, all mainline games in the Metal Gear franchise will be available on modern consoles. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1 included the first three Metal Gear Solid games, with Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake being available in its bonus content.
It’s unknown what games may be included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2’s bonus content, if any. Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel for the Game Boy Color would likely be the easiest game to port. However, well-regarded spin-offs like Metal Gear Acid and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops are both at risk of being lost to time. Unfortunately, the heavily memed Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is unlikely to be part of this due to being developed by PlatinumGames.
