New evidence suggests Elden Ring DLC release date in February

PureArts has announced a new Elden Ring collectible launching in February 2024, giving fans more reason to be hopeful that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC’s release date might actually be approaching.

Since the release of Elden Ring in February 2022, fans have been chomping the bit for more content for the game. FromSoftware has also set a strong precedent for its games, with all three Dark Souls games and Bloodborne having at least one DLC release, with some of them being held among the best DLC expansions in gaming. In February 2023, FromSoftware officially announced Elden Ring DLC entitled “Shadow of the Erdtree” was in development.

Unfortunately, nothing beyond the title and a single piece of concept art was given at the time. Very little has come out since. The only official update came at the 2023 Japanese PlayStation end-of-year awards, where a FromSoftware producer stated that development for Shadow of the Erdtree was “going smoothly” though no other info nor any release date was given.

Despite the lack of information from FromSoftware, premium figurine manufacturer PureArts announcing its first Elden Ring collectible adds to the growing refrain regarding a possible launch window. This is another sign there could be an update regarding the upcoming DLC, if not the full release, in February 2024.

There are more hints about the Elden Ring DLC release date from merchandise partners

There have been multiple signs that the Elden Ring DLC will be released in February 2024.

Kadokawa Corporation and FromSoftware have both remained silent on the DLC, with no word coming from either company regarding a release date. However, several leaks and claims have all individually indicated that the Elden Ring DLC should be expected sometime in February 2024.

FromSoftware YouTuber ZioStorm1 kicked things off in October by saying the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree release date was February 5 and it would be revealed at The Game Awards. The second half of that prediction didn’t come to pass, but leaked Elden Ring controller store pages on a major digital retailer also indicated a February 2024 release date.

Elden Ring also received an update to its PC version in December. This update altered files related to quality assurance tools and the debug menu, which suggests that developers were working on something significant for the game. There is currently no word on when Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring will be released, but it’s not abnormal for FromSoftware to remain mum regarding release dates for its projects until fairly soon before launch.

That said, FromSoftware has traditionally revealed DLC for its games about two months before the release date. This was seen with Bloodborne: The Old Hunters, Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel, and then The Ringed City. The fact that Elden Ring official merchandise partners are all gravitating to February suggests that something is coming during that month.
