The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC remains shrouded in mystery but fans might know when the shroud is coming off and what its release date will be.
Neither Elden Ring developer FromSoftware nor publisher Bandai Namco have released any details about the game’s DLC to this point. That has given a lot of elbow room for leakers. One notable figure who has been a part of that is YouTuber Ziostorm1 and while they haven’t been the source of many leaks regarding the game, they’ve both disproven some previous Elden Ring leaks and accurately proliferated news regarding Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.
That makes it notable that they’ve finally come forward with something regarding the game. Ziostorm1 is making some big claims regarding the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC including its release date and when its official reveal will finally come.
Elden Ring DLC release date, reveal possibly leaked
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will reportedly be released on February 5, 2024 and will be officially revealed at the 2023 Game Awards.
This comes from Ziostorm1 on Twitter. The report follows The Game Awards executive producer and host Geoff Keighley discussed a visit to Japan that included a visit to FromSoftware’s studios. Ziostorm1 noted the visit and said their sources had reported as much before Keighley had discussed his visit to the studio’s offices.
An official reveal coming at The Game Awards makes sense and was arguably something to expect. The Game Awards has hosted a number of major reveals by FromSoftware in the past including the debut of Elden Ring’s long-awaited cinematic trailer at The 2021 Game Awards and the reveal of Armored Core 6 at The 2022 Game Awards. FromSoftware has won two Game of the Year awards at the event including for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring.
While a reveal at The Game Awards makes sense, there have been mixed messages regarding when Shadow of the Erdtree will come out. FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa Corporation didn’t have any indications that the Elden Ring DLC would come out during its current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2024. More recently, an interview with Bandai Namco Europe president stated that the Elden Ring expansion will come out “soon.”
Either way, Ziostorm has gotten ahead of multiple stories regarding FromSoftware games in the past. Plans can always change and even if the internal plan is to follow this timetable, things could happen that necessitate a change.
Either way, it does give fans something to look forward to. The date for The 2023 Game Awards has already been revealed, so excited fans may want to clear off their calendar and set a reminder.
