Nintendo Switch 2 reveal may be coming in September 2024

Reports point toward fans getting some details about the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.

A tweet from Christopher Dring, the head of GamesIndustry.biz, makes reference to “whispers” around the industry of forward movement regarding the Switch 2. In addition to stating the Nintendo Switch was the greatest console ever, Dring informed fans that there are “whispers” in the industry of “something Switch 2-related” happening in September 2024.

It’s unknown if this “something” is an official hardware and release date reveal. It could also be Nintendo making devkits more widely available, or officially starting to assemble units.

Alongside this, a manufacturing partner of Nintendo, Hosiden, reportedly spent approximately $14 million on new production equipment and $7 million on new automation processes. These expenditures were reportedly made for a “major partner in amusement,” with that company said to be Nintendo.

This follows previous reports that Nintendo was set to start assembling Switch 2 hardware shortly. As with Dring’s statements on X, this was accompanied by the suggestion that a Nintendo Switch 2 reveal was set to happen in September 2024.

While there is no official news of the Switch 2 or a Direct being planned, historically the company has Nintendo Direct in August or September. This has included events in late August and early or mid-September every year since 2017.
