While there are highlights like the announcement of mainline games, the bulk of each show is housekeeping notes regarding the Pokemon World Championship, news on the mobile games, and a trailer for the next TCG expansion. That’s likely to be the case.
The Pokemon franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026. That effectively promises a number of big reveals, but there are already some major releases already confirmed to be coming. Here’s what fans have to look forward to and what they can expect during the event.
Gen-10 Pokemon games likely to be revealed during Pokemon Day 2026
The tenth generation of Pokemon games will likely be revealed or teased during Pokemon Day 2026.
Following the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A and its DLC, there are no upcoming mainline games confirmed by The Pokemon Company. Naturally, the expectation is for a successor to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to be announced at some point.
In 2024, Pokemon leaker Riddler Khu strongly suggested that the gen-10 games would be part of the 30th anniversary celebration. With no new mainline titles confirmed heading into Pokemon Day 2026, the reveal of the next installments makes sense.
Beyond that, there are few details on what this could entail. Release date, gameplay details, starters, and everything else about the 10th generation remain a mystery. Still, there’s a good chance that this is the main event of the show.
Pokemon Champions likely set for proper unveiling
The Pokemon VGC circuit is set to be pulled out of the mainline games and moved to Pokemon Champions in 2026. That’s an ambitious move, given how little is known about the title at this point.
Pokemon Champions was revealed on Pokemon Day in 2025 and very little has come out on the game since. Still, what has come out has fans excited. It’s confirmed that players will have access to a curated set of unlockable Pokemon and items for turn-based battling, with the potential to use all previous game mechanics from Mega Evolution to Terastalization.
Further details on the game, most notably a release date, will likely come during Pokemon Day 2026. It has already been confirmed that Pokemon Champions will be used for VGC competition at the 2026 World Championship, so its release date could be soon.
When is Pokemon Day 2026?
Pokemon Day 2026 will happen on February 27, 2026. Pokemon Red and Green were first released in Japan on February 27, 1996 and that date has been commemorated with Pokemon Day.
Much of the festivities are teases of the next content updates for established Pokemon games. In 2025, fans were given details on the Pokemon GO Tour, new Pokemon Masters content, unlockables in Pokemon Cafe ReMix, and new playable Pokemon in Pokemon Unite. Fans of these games can look forward to similar reveals in 2026.
Details on new Pokemon anime will also likely be confirmed. Last year, this included the reveal of Pokemon Concierge Season 2. New info on Pokemon Horizons, or new movies and series, are also possible.
