Pokemon TCG Pocket: All the rarest cards in Mythical Island

Mew ex, from the Pokemon TCG Pocket Mythical Island pack.

Despite being just half the size of Genetic Apex, the Pokemon TCG Pocket Mythical Island set has its own rare cards to show off.

Pokemon TCG Pocket released its first mini-set on December 17, 2024. The new expansion features a plethora of new cards. These range from comparatively obscure Pokemon like Dhelmise to four different Mew cards. Though all have their own merits, some stand out from the pack for being the hardest to get from the set.

Here are the most prized pulls that players can hope for in the Pokemon TCG Pocket Mythical Island booster pack.

What are the rarest cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket: Mythical Island?

The crown gold Mew ex is by far the rarest card from the Mythical Island expansion pack, followed by select full arts and the immersive rare Celebi ex.

With a pull chance of 0.040%, the gold crown Mew ex card takes the cake as the most difficult card to get in the new set. All three of the possible Mew ex cards have the same move set, but the gold crown version is the ideal pull because of its exclusivity. It joins the three gold crown cards from Genetic Apex as the rarest cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Gold crown Mew ex, immersive rare Celebi ex, and rainbow border Aerodactyl ex - some of the rarest cards in Mythical Island.

A selection of full arts also make the ranking of the rarest cards from Mythical Island. Players have a 0.050% chance of pulling one of the 10 cards, which include:

  • Aerodactyl ex
  • Blue
  • Budding Expeditioner
  • Celebi ex
  • Gyarados ex
  • Leaf
  • Mew ex
  • Pidgeot ex
  • Aerodactyl ex with rainbow border
  • Mew ex with rainbow border

Finally, the odds of pulling the immersive rare Celebi ex is 0.222%. This is the only immersive rare in the supplementary booster pack.

When compared to the rarest cards in Genetic Apex, players might notice that they’re more likely to pull a gold crown card in Mythic Island than before. This is because Mythical Island only has 86 cards compared to the 250 featured in the first booster packs.

How to get rare cards from Mythical Island

The only surefire way to pull a gold crown Mew ex or immersive rare Celebi in Pokemon TCG Pocket is to open as many packs as possible. Fortunately, Mythical Island comes with a few new ways for players to get Pack Hourglasses and shorten the time between pack openings.

First, there are a number of new solo AI battles available at the advanced and expert levels. Each awards five Pack Hourglasses upon first completion. Additionally, between December 17 and December 19, the development team is sending out 12 Pack Hourglasses each day.

Players can also continuously check Wonder Picks and hope that they have the option to pull a rare card. To increase the odds of better picks, they can add either other regular players or opponents who have good decks as friends.

Finally, for those who have exhausted other options, there’s always the option to spend real-world money. While it won’t definitely net a rare card, players who invest in the Premium Pass subscription or buy Poke Gold can increase the amount of packs they open every day.

With their high rarity, getting a crown gold Mew ex is a numbers game. Hopefully, players who want any of the rarest Mythical Island cards luck out before the next expansion comes out. After that, they’ll have to decide where to spend their precious Pack Hourglasses or real dollars.
