Server issue wiping Modern Warfare 3 players’ progress, what to do

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and 3 are suffering serious issues with servers going down and a bug potentially reseting players’ progress in the game.

The issue of servers crashing or simply not working happens often with many different video games, but especially with massively popular ones such as CoD. While online issues in Call of Duty games aren’t unusual, and there’s always something to be frustrated with even if things are running smoothly, they’re rarely severe. That’s not the case here, according to Activision.

The publisher says it is aware of the issue but players may want to hold off on playing for a while and should scout the situation before attempting to log into their accounts. This is because some players are discovering their progress has disappeared.

What is happening with Call of Duty?

Players have been reporting issues across Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Warzone, meanwhile modes including Zombies are down entirely.

While players can still jump into Modern Warfare 3 or Warzone lobbies, many are finding it hard to find matches as wait times are much longer than before. On top of that information, players are also noticing their stats to have been reset completely, their loadouts are incorrect, and they have lost progression in the battle pass.

With all that being said, it is worth players possibly reconsidering logging onto COD until later when Activision releases a hotfix or update for these issues. Activision has been rolling out fixes to these issues one-by-one but with each fix, it’s been one step forward and one step back in some cases with the company unearthing other issues.

When will Modern Warfare 3’s servers be fixed?

Activision didn’t provide a timetable for when the server issues will be fixed and it is unclear whether players will be able to have their progress restored in Modern Warfare 3.

The developer’s tweet let players know that it is aware of the issue and stated that it “appeared overnight” and is “preventing progress from being tracked in various areas of the game.” There isn’t anything players can do to get into the game, and they simply need to wait for service to be restored. When these types of issues arise, it normally doesn’t take developers long to work out a fix, but as of right now, there is no official word from Activision about how long this might take.

Until a fix is provided, players may want to avoid playing CoD altogether until the issue is fixed. Players ought to stay tuned to the official Activision social media channels to see what the situation is, especially if they care about actually making progress in their battle pass during a session.
