A few details about Shin Megami Tensei 6 got leaked near the end of 2023, but the most recent title in the series might get a refresh first. A game called Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance was rated in Korea, hinting at a re-release for the 2021 Nintendo Switch JRPG. Alongside the rating, there was a short description of the apparent upcoming version of Shin Megami Tensei 5.
According to the summary, fans know what to expect from the game. However, the question on everyone’s mind is which platforms will get the new and improved version.
What is Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance?
Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance is seemingly an upgraded version of the original game, with new content.
According to the description alongside the Korean rating, the game is “a complete edition of Shin Megami Tensei 5 with improvements and additional content.”
Shin Megami Tensei 5 launched on November 11, 2021, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It’s an RPG set in Tokyo and the Netherworld, where players control a high schooler who protects the city from a demon invasion. The gameplay is similar to previous titles in the series, as it has turn-based combat, dialogue options, and a party system.
The description also suggests that it will have all the DLC from the base game bundled. While the Korean website did not reveal the game’s release date, it’s safe to assume it will launch in 2024, given that it already has a rating.

With SEGA’s increased focus on multiplatform releases, this new version of SMT5 may also get the same treatment and come to other platforms. Sega and Atlus have been on a re-release spree over the last year, bringing Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal to Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. If it ends up on Xbox, it will be the first time the series lands on a Microsoft console.
As for when the game might get announced, there’s a good chance it might get revealed at the upcoming Nintendo Direct since the original title is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and the Shin Megami Tensei series as a whole has always had a good relationship with Nintendo.
