Star Wars Outlaws features a rich faction system and players will want to know what groups exist, what rewards they offer, and which faction to focus on befriending.
Any open-world game about scoundrels, blackguards, and dastards is well-served by having a faction system. Whether it’s Fallout or Elden Ring and the Minutemen or the Recusants of Volcano Manor, establishing factions highlights the core conflicts of the universe and helps to both drive the action and flesh out the world. Star Wars Outlaws does this as well.
The factions help define the many worlds the story plays out across, and puts extra weight behind players’ choices. But few choices make everyone happy. Here are all the different factions in Star Wars Outlaws, what rewards there are for helping them, and what they’re about.

All the factions in Star Wars Outlaws
Star Wars Outlaws has four factions that have different roles in the galaxy and varied levels of influence, depending on the planet.
Factions work on a reputation system, where Kay can gain approval from them by offering help or can become an enemy by siding against them. Here’s where each of these groups operates, what they do, and where fans first met them.
Crimson Dawn
Fans first meet the Crimson Dawn in Solo: A Star Wars Story, with the group standing as the main antagonist for the titular antihero. Though things don’t pan out well for the group during the film, it wasn’t the end of their story.
Players will get to know the Crimson Dawn faction early on. The faction lords over Toshara alongside the Pyke Syndicate, but they don’t work together amicably.
Pyke Syndicate
The Pyke Syndicate are effectively the drug lords of the Star Wars universe. The group has appeared in several pieces of Star Wars media and has been presented in different ways based on that. In Star Wars Outlaws, fans get to see this faction in all their sleazy glory.
One of the early causes of tension early on in Star Wars Outlaws is the friction between the Crimson Dawn and the Pyke Syndicate. Players will have to balance the potential gains with the Crimson Dawn against the reputation hit to the Pyke Syndicate, which has hands across the galaxy.
Hutt Cartel
The Hutt Cartel is going to be the most instantly recognizable group in Star Wars Outlaws for most. The Tatooine-based group, as the name suggests, includes Jabba the Hutt and other recognizable characters. The group’s motive and modus operandi are immediately clear, given its appearance in the original trilogy.
Don’t expect any sort of redemption arc for the group, either. The Hutt Cartel remains casually brutal and rules over the sandy planet, but doesn’t have the galaxy-encompassing grasp of other groups.
Ashiga Clan
Unlike the other factions, the Ashiga Clan are Ubisoft originals. The group was created specifically for the game and has an oddly Japanese feel to them.
The group operates out of Kijimi and has a strong hold there. Kay is best-served getting on the faction’s good side both for the rewards and to ensure that Star Wars Outlaws’ token ice world remains hospitable.
All rewards from each Star Wars Outlaws faction
Each faction gives players a total of five rewards for maxing out their reputation. Rewards are given each time Kay’s reputation rank increases within the faction. The rewards players receive are similar across all four factions and are given in a sequential order; offering a blaster skin, then a crest and bundle of upgrade materials, then new outfits for Kay and Nix.
Each of the crests and outfits offers a unique perk that make them worth getting. Here are the rewards for each faction in Star Wars Outlaws, and when players get them.
All Crimson Dawn rank rewards
The Crimson Dawn offer Kay items that improve her stealthiness and help her get out of trouble after being detected. The Crimson Dawn Crest makes Kay harder to spot and helps her shake pursuers, should the need arise. Not only that, but the Crimson Reign outfit restores health after taking out enemies from the shadows and lets her rapid-fire toss smoke bombs and stun shots.
- Good– Crimson Reign Coating for blaster
- Excellent– Crimson Dawn Crest, speeder parts bundle
- Max– Crimson Reign outfit, Crimson Reign satchel
All Pyke Syndicate rank rewards
While the Crimson Dawn gear is focused on stealth, that’s not the case with the Pyke Syndicate. For players looking to blast their way through Star Wars Outlaws, the reward for helping this faction includes a variety of buffs to weapons. The Pyke Syndicate gives grenades a chance to not be consumed after use. Meanwhile, the Imperial Disguise outfit increases blaster damage and improves hip firing accuracy. The disguise also makes it harder for Imperial units to detect Kay, and will reduce her wanted level faster when she runs afoul of the group.
- Good– Imperial Coating for blaster
- Excellent– Pyke Syndicate Crest, ship parts bundle
- Max– Imperial Disguise outfit, Imperial Chestbox
All Ashiga Clan rank rewards
The Ashiga Clan rewards are all support-focused, offering various forms of healing. The Ashiga Clan Crest offers a bit of healing when beating enemies with melee attacks. The Kijimi Explorer outfit offers a slew of different healing perks. From carrying more healing items to surviving a would-be-fatal blow to healing faster, the Kijimi Explorer outfit has a lot to offer.
- Good– Kijimi Explorer coating for blaster
- Excellent– Ashiga Clan Crest, blaster parts bundle
- Max– Kijimi Explorer outfit, Kijimi Explorer scarf
All Hutt Cartel rank rewards
The Hutt Cartel’s faction rewards are another great choice for players looking to force their way through Star Wars Outlaws. Like the Pyke Syndicate’s faction rewards, the Hutt Cartel gives a crest and outfit that boost various weapons. Unlike the Pyke Syndicate, Jabba’s gear makes players more tanky.
The crest makes Kay more resistant to melee damage. Meanwhile, the outfit offers Kay better damage with explosives, resistance to explosive damage, and bonus adrenaline when killing enemies with grenades.
- Good– Boonta Coating for blaster
- Excellent– Hutt Cartel Crest, blaster parts bundle
- Max– Boonta Brawler outfit, Boonta Brawler Splash
Which Star Wars Outlaws faction should players focus on siding with?
Players are best served siding with the Pyke Syndicate when possible.
Star Wars Outlaws will initially see Kay facing the choice of siding with the Pyke Syndicate and the Crimson Dawn. Though the game steers Kay toward the Crimson Dawn in some ways, players ought to resist that to some degree.
Kay is forced to be stealthy on occasion, but players are almost always best served by blasting their way out of trouble. The Pyke Syndicate gives players numerous boosts to their combat prowess after forming an excellent relationship. When it comes to faction rewards, Star Wars Outlaws players will feel much more of a difference with an improved blaster than they will with greater stealth.
How to get faction rewards in Star Wars Outlaws
Players can get their rewards from faction rank-ups aboard the Trailblazer.
Each time players rank up, they automatically receive rewards. Those rewards don’t just appear in Kay’s inventory, though. Instead, they are mailed directly to her ship.
All items get sent to a box above the Trailblazer’s stern ramp. Simply walk aboard and look at the shelves along the right wall. These shelves have a chest where all faction reward items are sent.
Players are guaranteed to hit a good reputation with either the Pyke Syndicate or Crimson Dawn after one of the first main missions of the game. While this will net the player a blaster skin, they won’t be able to receive it until later on in the story once the Trailblazer is relocated.
