Stardew Valley 1.6 adds a ton of fun new stuff, but some players may not have realized Bigfoot now lives around the outskirts of Pelican Town.
As one of the most popular and thoroughly supported farming games, Stardew Valley has years upon years of content. It’s normal for veteran players to have multiple saves based on some specific goal or for hunting one specific item. With each new update, the options only grow. The long-awaited Stardew 1.6 update, now available on all platforms, adds many new events, mechanics, and goals for players to achieve. However, the patch notes did not specifically call out one change.
Some players have reported spotting an iconic cryptid stalking through the woods, and it gave them quite the fright.
Where to find Bigfoot in Stardew Valley
Players have the best chance of spotting Bigfoot at the pond in the southwest section of the Secret Woods.
As the name not-so-subtly implies, the Secret Woods holds plenty of secrets. To access the Secret Woods, players must chop down the large log to its entrance with a Steel Axe.
Mysterious statues, strange notes, hyper-intelligent bears, and the recently added Lost Items Shop give the area an eerie vibe. In the southwest section of the map, there’s also a pond that contains a unique fish, the woodskip. Given its rarity, it may take a few tries to get the woodskip for completionists.
While fishing, players have the best chance of spotting Bigfoot in Stardew Valley up close. Players don’t actually have to do anything in order to have Bigfoot appear. The cryptid will run out of the threes on the right side, among the biggest NPCs in the game, before disappearing into the woods. As expected, the Stardew Valley Bigfoot is covered from head to toe in fur, with only the vaguest indication of eyeballs beneath the wild mane.
While Bigfoot has been reported in other locations, mostly around Pelican Town and in the Cindersap Forest, the Secret Woods fishing spot has the most recorded footage online, making it the most likely area to find the cryptid. So far, players have found no way to interact with Bigfoot, so it’s assumed he is just an easter egg.
Little secrets like this keep Stardew Valley a fresh experience even years after its release.
