Burnice is lighting up the ZZZ meta, so it’s a good idea to figure out the top builds, team compositions, and Drive Disc combinations for the new fire anomaly agent.
Zenless Zone Zero’s first S-rank fire agent is Burnice White. Burnice primarily fits the sub-DPS archetype and specializes in dealing off-field damage and anomaly buildup. Her superb application makes her ideal for burn and Disorder-based teams, and she can chip in a decent amount of personal damage without stealing too much field time from the squad’s main DPS.
To top it all off, Burnice doesn’t need a complex kit to be effective. Players just need to get a hang of her abilities, use the best build, and team her up with the right squad members to make her shine.

How to play Burnice White in Zenless Zone Zero
Burnice is entering the game as an anomaly sub-DPS who deals fire damage and applies fire anomaly while off-field.
Burnice hits the battlefield in the Nitro Fuel Cocktail state, indicated by the bar beneath her HP. While in this state, she has various attack options including a held basic attack, multiple EX special options. All these and her chain attacks and ultimate ultimate apply the scorched status to enemies. When an enemy is scorched, players will see flames on their bodies, and every attack from any active agent will deal Afterburn damage.
Afterburn is Burnice’s main source of off-field damage. It counts as assist attack damage, scaling with her attack and anomaly proficiency, and it can crit. Beyond just dealing damage, this attack also applies a solid amount of fire anomaly, making her an ideal sub-DPS for burn and disorder teams. It also makes it so players need to be extremely particular about Burnice’s build.
Afterburn ticks will consume heat, and once that heat is fully depleted, she’ll exit the Nitro Fuel Cocktail state, leaving the bar below her HP empty.
To return to the Nitro Fuel Cocktail state, Burnice needs to use her EX specials and ultimate. It’s generally better to stick with her EX specials since the ultimate is usually reserved for the main DPS and rarely goes to other team members.
When optimizing rotations, here are some quick combos that players can pull off:
- EX Special 1, EX special 2
- Hold basic attack, EX special 2
- Assist, assist follow-up, EX special 2
Use any of these combos before switching to the main DPS, and then quickly swap back to Burnice once her Nitro Fuel Cocktail state ends.
Best Drive Disc build for Burnice in ZZZ
For Burnice, the best Drive Disc set combination is the 4-piece Chaos Jazz set paired with a 2-piece Inferno Metal, Chaos Jazz is her best option and the set was basically introduced to help Burnice and fellow anomaly agent Yanagi. Equipping it can take her damage potential to the next level.
4-piece Chaos Jazz, 2-piece Inferno Metal
Chaos Jazz is tailor-made for Burnice and easily outperforms other choices. This set grants her 30 anomaly proficiency and raises her fire damage by 15%. It also powers up her EX special and assists attack damage when she’s off-field.
Since Burnice’s Afterburn counts as assist attack damage, Chaos Jazz will definitely ramp up its effectiveness. To make the most of it, the best companion for this set is Inferno Metal, which boosts her fire damage further.
4-piece Chaos Jazz, 2-piece Hormone Punk
Chaos Jazz pairs nicely with Hormone Punk, coming in just behind Inferno Metal. Since Burnice’s damage scales with ATK, Hormone Punk’s 10% boost makes it a great choice for enhancing her overall damage output.
4-piece Chaos Jazz, 2-piece Freedom Blues
To fully capitalize on Burnice’s off-field damage potential, a minimum of 300 anomaly proficiency is required. If players find it difficult to achieve this, they can consider using a 2-piece Freedom Blues set, providing a 30 anomaly proficiency boost that stacks with the same boost from Chaos Jazz.
All the best Burnice W-Engines
The best W-Engines for Burnice are Flamemaker Shaker, Fusion Compiler, Weeping Gemini, and Electro Lipgloss.
Burnice thrives as an anomaly sub-DPS and benefits from basically every W-Engine that boosts her anomaly proficiency, ATK%, flat ATK, or penetration ratio. The good news is that players have plenty of choices, from expensive high-tier gear to affordable, craftable options.
Flamemaker Shaker (S-Rank)
Flamemaker Shaker, Burnice White’s signature W-Engine unsurprisingly delivers the highest damage potential, offering a massive ATK boost that significantly increases her overall damage. This W-Engine is perfectly suited to Burnice’s off-field role, as its passive effect gets doubled when she’s not the active character. Furthermore, it provides 50 anomaly proficiency and energy regeneration, ensuring consistent uptime on her Scorched and Afterburn abilities.
Fusion Compiler (S-rank)
Fusion Compiler ranks as the second-best anomaly W-Engine for Burnice, due to the boosts it offers in Pen Ratio, ATK, and Anomaly Proficiency. Since it’s an S-rank weapon available from the standard banner, it’s more accessible than her signature weapon. Though it’s theoretically Grace’s signature W-Engine, it’s one of the best options when building any anomaly agent, Burnice included.
Electro Lipgloss (A-rank)
Electro Lipgloss is an A-rank W-engine that enables Burnice to deal respectable personal damage while off-field. At max level, it provides 75 Anomaly Proficiency, and if enemies are affected by any anomaly, Burnice gains an additional 10% to 16% ATK, along with a 15% to 25% increase in damage.
Weeping Gemini (A-rank)
Another free-to-play friendly W-Engine available for crafting from Box Galaxy is the Weeping Gemini. It not only provides an ATK boost but also allows Burnice to achieve a whopping 120 Anomaly Proficiency at maximum stacks, or 192 at maximum refinement. This AP level enables her to quickly reach the recommended target of 300.
Best ZZZ Teams for Burnice
Burnice’s kit fits perfectly in Disorder-based comps and fire teams. Thanks to her off-field application of fire anomaly, the bulk of her damage comes from Disorder, which makes her a great teammate for on-field anomaly damage-dealers. On the other hand, she can also be valuable in a burn-based mono-fire team.
Best Burnice Disorder Team – Yanagi, Burnice, Lighter (Red Moccus)
Assuming proper builds for Burnice, Yanagi, and Lighter, there’s a solid chance this becomes the top meta team in ZZZ for a long while. But with three consecutive S-rank characters, it’s also one that’s likely to be exclusive to whales.
Burnice, as an anomaly sub-DPS, excels in Disorder teams. Disorder triggers extra damage when one anomaly status is swapped for another. In this Burnice team’s case, when her Burn effect gets replaced by Shock, that extra hit kicks in.
For this reason, Tsukishiro Yanagi pairs perfectly with Burnice.
Yanagi excels as an electro anomaly DPS that requires extended field time. While Yanagi’s dishing out damage on the field, Burnice backs her up with an off-field fire anomaly application from Afterburn, letting players stack Shock and Burn for hard-hitting Disorder procs. Among all the anomaly DPS choices, Yanagi stands out as the best pick with her core skill practically quadrupling Disorder damage.
Meanwhile, Lighter can take the role of the main stunner to complete the team. Though there’s no shortage of stunners, Lighter and Burnice lets players power up both Red Moccus and Rocketboo as their Bangboo.
Burn-Assault Disorder Team – Jane, Caesar, Burnice (Red Moccus)
Jane is the second-best anomaly DPS to team up with Burnice.
Like Yanagi, Jane likes to spend most of her time on the field dealing damage and chunking down enemies with assault procs. By bringing Burnice along, she is able to maximize Disorder damage without sacrificing field time. The Jane-Burnice combination is much smoother to play and rotation is easier to execute than other Disorder teams that feature either Rina or Grace.
Caesar can fill the second slot, taking charge of the team’s survivability while also offering a decent ATK buff that benefits both damage dealers.
F2P Disorder Team – Piper, Burnice, Lucy (Red Moccus)
A solid alternative for free-to-play or low-spend Zenless Zone Zero enjoyers is the Piper, Burnice, and Lucy combo. This lineup includes an on-field physical anomaly DPS, an off-field fire anomaly sub-DPS, and an ATK buffer.
Even without a dedicated stunner, this F2P team holds its own, as Disorder effects still cause a good amount of daze on enemies. The combination of Mindscape 6 Lucy and Burnice is a deceptively strong core with fire build-up synergy, and could be taken in a few different directions.
Best Burnice fire team – Soldier 11, Burnice, Lucy (Red Moccus or Rocketboo)
Shifting away from Disorder-based teams, fire DPS Soldier 11 can effectively make use of Burnice’s kit. A full fire squad, especially with Burnice in the mix, guarantees steady Burn uptime. This setup lets Soldier 11 take full advantage of the 4-piece Inferno Metal set, boosting her crit rate by 28%, a passive effect she often struggles to hit in other comps.
From there, players can throw in Lucy, who’s from the same faction as Burnice, and the team also benefits from a solid ATK buff. Alternatively, players who happened to pull Koleda can add a fire-based stunner that can effectively contribute more anomaly buildup.
