Mega Rising has nearly arrived in Pokemon TCG Pocket, with a new group of best cards for players to try to pull.
Celebrating its one-year anniversary, Pokemon TCG Pocket is constantly innovating and adding new things for players to look forward to. These have included everything from trading (with its recently updated rules), to baby Pokemon, to rare gold crown cards. Developers announced in August 2025 that mega evolution Pokemon would be coming to the game sometime in the fall season, and it seems that the time has now arrived.
For the first time since Genetic Apex, Pokemon TCG Pocket is releasing three booster packs to kick off the starter set in the B Series. Fans will have to pull a lot of cards to get the best ones from Mega Rising.
Best pull cards so far from Mega Rising
Blaziken ex takes the cake as the best pull card revealed so far from Mega Rising, with the other mega Pokemon close behind.
Out of the six mega evolution Pokemon cards revealed in the trailer, Blaziken ex seems to hold the most promise competitively. It deals 120 damage for just two energy, though it discards one for each attack and has 210 HP. Importantly, it can also hit ex blocking cards like Oricorio with the burn effect. When paired with a heater like Flareon or Moltres or the new Flame Patch card, Blaziken ex holds a lot of promise as a meta-defining card.

The remaining mega Pokemon make up some of the other best pull cards from Mega Rising. Some were revealed earlier in the year, but Pokemon TCG Pocket has shared a number of others debuting soon. These include a mixture of cards ranging in HP, stage, and damage dealt. Players can look forward to trying to pull:
- Mega Altaria: 190 HP, deals base 40 damage and 30 more for every player-benched Pokemon
- Mega Gyarados: 210 HP, deals 140 damage and causes an opponent to discard the top three cards of their deck
- Mega Pinsir: 170 HP, deals base 80 damage and can coin flip for a total of 150 damage
- Mega Absol: 170 HP, deals 80 damage and forces the opponent to discard a Supporter from their hand
- Mega Ampharos: 210 HP, deals 100 damage to the active Pokemon and up to 60 damage spread between an opponent’s benched Pokemon
One of the drawbacks of mega Pokemon is that their knockout counts for all three points in the game. However, their high HP means they can really take a hit, and their moves deal massive amounts of damage. It could be a higher risk, but it can also make for a higher reward.
Other notable cards from Mega Rising
Besides mega evolutions, Mega Rising has plenty of other cards players will want to keep an eye out for including a new group of full art cards.
three full art cards have been shared so far: Pancham, Goomy, and Growlithe. While none are powerhouses in their own right, their unique art style makes each valuable to collectors.

Mega Rising also introduces new evolution lines to the mobile game that are both powerful and could pair well with cards from other Pokemon TCG Pocket sets. Hydregion, a Stage 2 card, can gain its own energy and deal 130 damage, albeit at the cost of 20 damage to itself. Aegislash boosts the damage dealt by all metal and psychic Pokemon, making it a good addition to Solgaleo ex or Gengar ex decks.
Other standouts from the set include a citrus berry Pokemon tool and the trainer Lisia, who can draw two Pokemon with 50 HP or less. Since there are three boosters, its likely that Mega Rising will have over 200 cards like Genetic Apex. That means there are plenty more surprises still to look forward to as the set nears release.
With so many cards to look forward to, players will want to get as many hourglasses as they can for a shot at Mega Blaziken on October 30. Otherwise, they’ll want to start building their counter decks to stay competitive in the game’s new meta.
