A new Elden Ring art book is coming and it costs fans up to $1,000, but could this merch possibly be worth it?
Elden Ring has continued to grow its reputation as a challenging masterpiece since its release in 2022. The Shadow of Erdtree DLC has been equally praised, even if streamers critical of others’ gaming abilities say it’s too hard to be fun. But is the game good enough to warrant a $1,100 art book? And can an art book possibly be good enough to justify that price?
Tune & Fairweather is hoping for a positive answer. The publisher is releasing an Elden Ring art book called Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring. It’s described as a “lavish, 500+ page appraisal” of the game’s lore with elegant artwork and writing from FromSoftware YouTuber Geoff “SmoughTown” Truscott. But what does it have on offer?
Why is the Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring art book so expensive?
The Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring art book is an ornate, elaborate work with contributions from one of FromSoftware’s most popular YouTubers.
The book is undeniably stunning. Its elegant look, heavy material, and original artwork are striking enough that gamers haven’t chosen to bombard the company with hate for the price. Unlike the comments seen in reaction to Riot Games’ “generous” $400 League of Legends skins, Grace Given actually has the respect of Elden Ring fans.
Three versions are available for sale, with these price tags:
- Collector’s edition: $279
- Limited edition: $779
- Benefactor Edition: $1,113
Fans seem to like it, but that doesn’t mean they have the money. A lot of players have expressed sadness that they can’t afford even the Collector’s Edition and have asked Tune & Fairweather if a Standard Edition is in the works. A scaled-back version will come later once the “final boss versions” are done production.
And will the art book include Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree content?
“Afraid not, it’s already bordering on ‘too heavy to lift’ with just the base game discussed. But there are no contradictions with lore revelations from the DLC,” the company said
So is the book worth over $1,000? That is up to the individual Elden Ring player to decide. However, it seems to be worth the impressive price point if one is willing to spend that much thanks to its size, materials, and content.
For those with a deep love of FromSoftware games, an overflowing wallet, and a space on their mantel, a pricy Elden Ring art book might be worth considering. Those who don’t have $1,000 to spend on a book should look elsewhere.
The good news is that Grace Given isn’t coming out until 2025. Interested fans have time to save up. The book is currently available for pre-order and pre-ordering the $1,100 Benefactor Edition before August 10 offers these bonuses:
