Tubbo banned on Twitch again? Here’s what he did

Tubbo banned on Twitch

Twitch just gave Tubbo another ban on Twitch, but what actually happened?

Tobias “Tubbo” Smith, as far as DreamSMP people go, has surprisingly avoided major controversies. One of the most notable “feuds” he’s been part of was with fellow Minecraft content creator Sapnap for bringing his young audience to Kick. Even so, it wasn’t so much a feud but an honest criticism, with no real heat between either.

The lack of drama makes his recent ban all the more shocking to fans. However, fans who watched Tubbo’s stream know exactly why he got banned, and most say he deserves the punishment.

Why did Twitch ban Tubbo?

Twitch banned Tubbo’s alt account TubboLIVE after he began a DJ stream.

Fans quickly began piling on the content creator, jokingly asking him what he thought would happen. Amusingly, it seemed Tubbo himself knew he flew too close to the sun. The stream was titled “This Stream Might Get Me Banned.” To nobody’s surprise, it did.

The ban came while Tubbo began an unofficial DJ stream with fans. Though likely just chatting, Twitch’s TOS has strict rules around DJ streams. The DJ Program was set up to provide an option for DJs hit by the new requirements around streaming live music. Given the guerilla nature of Tubbo’s stream, none of these precautions were likely taken, resulting in a ban.

In response to Twitch’s punishment, Tubbo simply stated, “Are you freaking serious?” Twitch has not commented on the matter. Compared to recent bans like Asmongold, Tubbo’s incident is massively more tame.

This is not Tubbo’s first Twitch DMCA problem

Twitch banned Tubbo on July 2024 after rebroadcasting the television broadcast of a Formula 1 racing event.

Tubbo was invited to the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone and allowed to stream the event. However, instead of recording the official race, Tubbo reportedly used footage from a TV broadcast.

As he did not own the footage, Twitch was forced to suspend his account. Tubbo explained everything on a YouTube livestream. The platform lifted the ban two days later, and fans believe the recent one won’t last too long either. Either way, fans hope Tubbo has learned his lesson about streaming copyrighted content, even if it’s just for fun.
