The Silent Hill 2 remake received rave reviews, but will Bloober Team eventually adapt the Born from a Wish as DLC?
To the shock of fans, Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake was fantastic; paying homage to the original while, staying committed to its take on the story, and still bringing the puzzles and combat into modern times. The remake doesn’t try to recreate the magic of Silent Hill 2. Instead, it expands upon its story and fleshes out certain aspects of the established lore.
Plus, the overhauled gameplay is a far cry from the janky tank controls of the early 2000s. Even the original Silent Hill art director, Masahiro Ito, stated on social media that combat felt better in the remake. However, a major storyline from the original game was mysteriously absent from the final release.
Will the Silent Hill 2 remake have Born from a Wish DLC?
There is no word from Bloober Team or Konami about Born From a Wish being remade and released as DLC for Silent Hill 2. However, Bloober Team leadership is seemingly pushing to recreate the extra chapter.
A Reddit user shared a screenshot of Bloober Team head Mateusz Lenart liking one of their posts on social media.
“Surely, Born from a Wish gets a DLC release down the line!” stated the post.
This had fans hopeful regarding the re-release bonus content. Although Konami hasn’t commented on future DLC and sequels, Bloober Team is more than open to the idea.
“I do believe that everything’s possible,” stated Bloober Team director Wojciech Piejko in an interview with IGN.
Born from a Wish was a special extra chapter added in the re-released versions of the original Silent Hill 2. Its availability and platform varied from region to region. The chapter serves as a prequel to the base game, following Maria’s trek into Silent Hill before she meets James.
Remakes like Persona 3 Reload and Resident Evil 4 have done similar things with their DLC. With the remake’s expansion of iconic locales, the Baldwin Mansion from Born from a Wish could experience a similar makeover.

Players can find the Baldwin Mansion in the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
After escaping from a horde of monsters with Maria, players can come across the Baldwin Mansion. Although locked, Maria will actively comment about the house, stating it “feels familiar.”
The direct reference adds more fuel to the DLC fire. Bloober Team may even be bold enough to add potential new endings from Maria’s prequel adventure. After all, the new endings, Bliss and Stillness work thematically well with Maria’s struggles in Born from a Wish. Regardless, fans eagerly await what’s next for the Silent Hill series.
