Xiangli Yao may be a free character, but that doesn’t mean Wuthering Waves players won’t need loads of materials to raise his Ascension Rank and fortes.
In version 1.2, Wuthering Waves introduced Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao. To everyone’s surprise, Xiangli Yao, the Electro DPS with a Gauntlet similar to Yuanwu, was offered as a free five-star resonator for players who took part in the Moon-chasing event. Despite being free, Xiangli Yao is not to be underestimated. His strength rivals and even exceeds that of Calcharo, the game’s first Electro DPS, and he’s now one of the most powerful units in the game.
While Xiangli Yao makes a strong first impression, he still borders on being useless without leveling him up. Here’s a breakdown of all the Xiangli Yao character and forte ascension materials, and how to get them.
All materials needed to get Xiangli Yao to maximum Ascension Rank
Xiangli Yao needs Wuthering Waves’ standard roundup of Electro materials and Howler Cores to raise his Ascension Rank.
In order to bring him to level 90, players will have to collect 60 Violet Coral, 46 Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, 4 LF Whisperin Core, 12 MF Whisperin Core, 12 FF Whisperin Core, 4 HF Whisperin Core, and 170,000 Shell Credits. Here is the step-by-step breakdown for raising Xianli Yao’s Ascension Rank:
- Ascension Rank 1: 5,000 Shell Credit, 4 LF Howler Core
- Ascension Rank 2: 10,000 Shell Credit, 4 Violet Coral, 3 Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, 4 MF Howler Core
- Ascension Rank 3: 15,000 Shell Credit, 8 Violet Coral, 6 Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, 8 MF Howler Core
- Ascension Rank 4: 20,000 Shell Credit, 12 Violet Coral, 9 Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, 4 HF Howler Core
- Ascension Rank 5: 40,000 Shell Credit, 16 Violet Coral, 12 Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, 8 HF Howler Core
- Ascension Rank 6: 80,000 Shell Credit, 20 Violet Coral, 16 Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, 4 HF Howler Core
Violet Coral is one of the many resources in Wuthering Waves used for character ascensions. The best way to collect a bunch of these is to head to Norfall Barrens, located at the top of the map. Since these are corals, they are typically found near bodies of water. Unfortunately, no vendor in the game sells Violet Coral. Fortunately, the amount of Violet Coral on the map allows players to just farm. If more is needed, players can visit their friends’ worlds to gather more.
To get the Hidden Thunder Tacet Core, head over to Tempest Mephis, an overlord boss located in Central Plains, Huanglong. Defeating Tempest Mephis and using waveplates on it will drop the Tacet Core. Each run typically provides around one to three Tacet Cores, so players looking to farm all of Xiangli Yao’s ascension materials should be prepared to use a large number of waveplates. Note that Tempest Mephis has relatively high resistance to Electro attacks, so it’s advisable to avoid using Electro DPS characters like Cacharo and Xiangli Yao.
LF, MF, HF, and FF Howler Cores are important character and weapon ascension materials used by resonators including Jinhsi and fellow patch 1.2 resonator Zhezhi. These can be collected through various methods including purchasing them from the weapon shop, completing forgery challenges, or defeating certain enemies.
All Xiangli Yao materials to raise forte in Wuthering Waves
Leveling up Xiangli Yao’s forte requires Howler Cores and the line of Cadence items.
Xiangli Yao needs to increase his strength by upgrading his forte, and this can be done by acquiring LF Whisperin Core, MF Whisperin Core, HF Whisperin Core, FF Whisperin Core, Cadence Seed, Cadence Bud, Cadence Leaf, Cadence Blossom, Unending Destruction.
Here are all of the materials Xiangli Yao needs for his ascension:
- 25 LF Howler Core
- 28 MF Howler Core
- 40 HF Howler Core
- 57 FF Howler Core
- 26 Unending Destruction
- 25 Cadence Seed
- 28 Cadence Bud
- 55 Cadence Leaf
- 67 Cadence Blossom
Cadence Seed, Cadence Bud, Cadence Leaf, and Cadence Blossom come from several sources. It can be bought from the weapon shop and souvenir store but the most reliable way of farming this material is by entering forgery challenges. To be specific, players need to go to the Forgery Challenge: Moonlit Groves found in Wuming Bay, Huanglong. No matter the level, each run eats up 20 waveplates, so expect to burn a lot of them.
Unending Destruction is a skill upgrade material dropped by Scar, a weekly boss found in the Chaotic Juncture: Ember in Qinchi Village, Huanglong. This challenge becomes available after finishing Act IV of the main quest, and spending 60 waveplates will get Unending Destruction along with other items.
