According to new estimates from industry experts, the Switch 2 might have a release date of early 2025 despite recent reports and a comparatively manageable price tag.

Nintendo hasn’t officially announced a release date for the Switch 2 and multiple sources keep coming out with different release dates for the console. Most recently, it was reported that the highly anticipated Nintendo next-gen console won’t arrive during the fiscal year ending March 2025

Though Nintendo has confirmed the Switch 2 is coming, nothing official has come from the company beyond that. A new batch of predictions from a notable analyst firm suggests that the Switch 2 will be released in early 2025.

When is the Nintendo Switch 2 release date?

Analysts predict that the Nintendo Switch 2’s release date will fall in the first half of 2025.

Hideki Yasuda from Toyo Securities told Kabutan that Nintendo will likely release the Switch 2 in the first half of 2025. Hideki Yasuda has not mentioned the month for the release but his report aligns with the statement of Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. Furukawa stated that the next-gen console will be revealed in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025.

Reports initially predicted a late 2024 release, which was followed by reports that things were pushed to Q1 2025. The most recent reports state that Nintendo has indicated to developers that the console now falls outside of Q1 2025. Assuming the reports and Yasuda’s estimates are accurate, this would make a Q2 2025 release a potential landing spot.

Switch 2 price and specs estimates

The Nintendo Switch 2 is estimated to cost less than $500 and will boast numerous hardware upgrades.

Yasuda further elaborates that the price of the console will likely be less than $499 and will likely come with a significant RAM upgrade. Earlier there were reports that the hardware of the Switch 2 would allow fans to play PlayStation 5 games, albeit not with ideal performance.

Past reports have indicated that the console itself will be largely similar to the Switch 2. This includes a larger unit overall and structural changes to the Joy-Cons. However, Nintendo hasn’t issued any official statement on the specs, hardware, or release date for its next-gen console.
