Ubisoft is officially working on Assassin’s Creed remakes, but it’s unclear which games from the long-running series will get the remaster treatment.
The French publisher has been around for decades, and many of its titles can be called “retro” at this point. The company is interested in releasing remakes and remasters of its old games. Beyond Good & Evil recently saw a new release on its 20th anniversary. A Prince of Persia remake has also been confirmed. It makes sense that Ubisoft would look at its biggest franchise for more remasters.
Assassin’s Creed is nearly 20 years old, with the first game released in 2007. The series has seen over 20 releases encompassing mainline entries and spin-offs. Recently, Assassin’s Creed games range from stealth-action games to full-on RPGs, but last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage was a traditional stealth-focused game. So naturally, Ubisoft wants to remake some of the older Assassin’s Creed titles.
Will there be Assassin’s Creed remakes?
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that the company is working on multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes.
Guillemot discussed remakes that are currently in development on Ubisoft’s official website. He added that the remakes will allow the company to revisit some of the company’s greatest hits and “modernize them.”
The Ubisoft CEO also stated the worlds of some older Assassin’s Creed games are still full of stories to tell and “extremely rich.” Unlike publishers like Capcom, Ubisoft hasn’t produced many full-blown remakes of its back catalog and has instead produced numerous remasters.
The Ezio Collection offered Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Remastered versions of Assassin’s Creed 3 and Rogue are also available.

What Assassin’s Creed games are getting remakes?
All signs point to either the original Assassin’s Creed or Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag being the first Assassin’s Creed games to get remakes.
The original Assassin’s Creed was released in 2007 and had limited mobility, combat, and game mechanics. While solid in its stealth, the game is old enough to show its age. An Assassin’s Creed Remake would make fans of the stealth-oriented gameplay happy. The upcoming Assassin’s Creen Shadows has two protagonists, one being a samurai, the other a stealthy shinobi.
An Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake has been reported on for some time, but Ubisoft has kept quiet about the project. The pirate-themed Assassin’s Creed remains a favorite, even after a decade of release. While Ubisoft tried to capture the magic again with Skull and Bones, Black Flag fans didn’t show enthusiasm about the title. Apart from remakes, Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Infinity are in the works at Ubisoft.
