Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is set to bring a lot of new features to the table, but is the game going to be worth getting again?

It’s been 20 years since the sci-fi adventure game Beyond Good & Evil launched. While a follow-up has been expected for years now, there’s no sign of forward progress. Ubisoft has confirmed that the game is not canceled and is still being developed, but nothing further was elaborated on.

Fans of the classic loved the exploration and puzzle-solving in the original release. The newer and shinier Anniversary Edition keeps all those beloved elements intact with a new look befitting modern hardware.

New features in the Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition offers updated visuals, controls, quality-of-life improvements, and new game modes.

Ubisoft hasn’t dubbed the game as a full remaster, but that’s what it is. The game offers better visuals at 4K resolution targeting 60 frames per second on some platforms. The controls are also modernized for modern hardware, including keyboard and mouse support to streamline the gameplay. The game will also receive quality-of-life features like auto-saving and cross-saves across all platforms.

Ubisoft also confirmed the new treasure hunt and speedrun modes. The treasure hunt will take players across Hillys and uncover Jade’s past with new cinematics. The game’s excellent soundtrack is also being re-orchestrated for the new edition. A special anniversary gallery featuring concept art and development photos is also included.

Beyond Good & Evil Anniversary Edition 20th platforms and release date confirmed

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is coming to  PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 25, 2024.

The game will be available on Steam, the Ubisoft Store, and the Epic Games Store. Beyond Good & Evil Anniversary Edition will also be available to Ubisoft+ Premium subscribers on day one.

Limited Run Games also plans a physical edition and Collector’s Edition. Preorders for the physical edition will open on July 12. Previously, Ubisoft announced the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake, but there’s no word on the Splinter Cell remake yet.

Is Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition worth getting?

The 20th Anniversary Edition will be worth getting for those who want to play the game with a streamlined experience.

The impact of the graphical changes will vary from person to person. That said, all will benefit from the ability to play with modern features like auto-saving and improved support for their control method of choice.
