The full contents of the patch is not known, but a few important details can be gleaned from previous posts, including one much-requested feature. This is the third big, feature-rich patch to hit the game, and players have several reasons to be excited for it.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 3 details, release date
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 3 will drop tomorrow, September 22 as long as it passes QA testing. It will include a number of major additions to the game both for established players and for a whole new audience.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will be able to run natively on MacOS on September 22, if all goes according to plan. Larian Studios has previously discussed its intent to release the game on Mac, and previous indications have been that it will come out in this update. For established players, it includes the long-awaited Magic Mirror, one of the most-requested features among Baldur’s Gate 3 players.
It’s important to note that the September 22 patch date is still technically tentative. The patch is currently undergoing its final round of QA and will be released once it passes. The full patch notes have not been revealed, but players can expect the usual roundup of performance improvements and bug fixes. In addition to this, Larian Studios has revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 3 will include the appearance-altering Magic Mirror.
How does the Magic Mirror work in Baldur’s Gate 3?
The Magic Mirror will live in the player’s camp and allow them to change their character’s appearance at any time.
There are some noteworthy restrictions to how the mirror works, however. Firstly, players can only change their Tav’s appearance, voice, and pronouns. Their race and body type cannot be altered. Secondly, players cannot alter origin characters in any way with the Magic Mirror.
Even so, the Mirror will take a great deal of the pressure off the character creation process. Race and body type will remain important decisions, but everything else can be changed at any time. While Baldur’s Gate 3 mods already exist that allow mid-game customizations, console players and PC players alike will be able to change their character without any hassle.
