The release date of Overwatch 2’s collab with Japanese neo-noir space Western anime series Cowboy Bebop has arrived, bringing new skins and an event that lets players unlock one for free.
The Overwatch franchise has been putting together more and more collabs with hot properties from around the world. Taking a page out of Fortnite’s book, K-pop and One Punch Man have been the inspiration for new skins that players can purchase from the in-game store or obtain through the battle pass. Cowboy Bebop is the latest crossover, getting teased in the initial reveal for season nine.
Both Cowboy Bebop fans and Overwatch 2 players were excited about the collab and speculated on what was to come. Now fans know for certain and can pick up skins from the store, or start grinding their way toward one for free.
Cowboy Bebop x Overwatch 2 collab release and end dates confirmed
The Cowboy Bebop-inspired skins are set to be released on March 12 and will be made available for players to purchase from the in-game store.
These new skins feature Cassidy as Spike Spiegel, Ashe as Faye Valentine, Sombra as Ed, Wrecking Ball as Ein, and the relative newcomer Mauga as Jet Black. All five will become available on March 12 alongside new emotes and other items.
The end date for Overwatch 2’s Cowboy Bebop event is March 25. Fans who want to get the skins or grind their way to the rewards will need to do so by then. It’s unclear when, or if, these might return so wannabe space cowboys ought to move quickly.
Which Cowboy Bebop skins are free in Overwatch 2?
Players can get Wrecking Ball’s Ein skin for free by playing and completing challenges during the event. All the other skins carry a price tag.

As with other Overwatch 2 events, players will be able to go into different game modes and complete objectives that range from simply playing to hitting certain benchmarks. The Wrecking Ball Ein skin is the top prize on offer to players, though other cosmetics can be had along the way.
Fans have voiced frustration over Cassidy’s Spike skin as the characters’ faces don’t gel; with Cassidy’s strong jaw clashing with Spike’s messy hair and Spike’s clean-shaven face not working with the typically bearded Cassidy. Still, compared with past Overwatch 2 events, the fan response to this one has been positive.
