Data miners digging through Insomiac Games’ leaked internal data have discovered a seemingly new playable character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.
Insomniac Games was hit with a ransomware attack last December. When the Sony developer didn’t give in to the demands, information about all upcoming projects was publicly leaked. The data leak was so massive that data miners are still finding new information several months later. A lot has been uncovered, from playable build footage of Marvel’s Wolverine to an online co-op Spiderverse game.
The latest discovery concerns a very early build of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and seemingly shows off a new playable character. The game is seemingly set to add a playable Spider-Woman to the cast.
Who’s the new playable character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3?
Silk will seemingly be a new playable character in Spider-Man 3.
Cindy Moon is a Korean-American student who was bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers. In the comics, she got her powers around the same time as Spider-Man but was hidden away for years due to her inability to control them. When she finally emerged, it was as the superhero Silk.
Her powers are largely similar to Parker’s. She isn’t as strong or durable, but is faster, has superior Spider-Sense, and has organic webbing.
Silk appearing likely isn’t a surprise for those who beat Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Her arrival in the sequel was teased with her being introduced to Miles Morales’ family.
The leaked photos show Silk web-swinging in what appears to be Central Park in New York. The first photo has her using the phone while swinging from a web. The other photo shows her in mid-jump, still overlooking Central Park.
When is Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 coming out?
Insomniac Games has Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 internally planned for a 2027 or 2028 release.
The studio’s long-term plans were among the first things revealed following the leak. That included Spider-Man 3, which was targeted for either a 2027 or 2028 release date. The game was potentially set to be split into two parts.
The screenshots of Silk speak to this, as they are in what appears to be an extremely early state of development. Regardless, fans can get excited about how she will look in the game.
Though Spider-Man 3’s release date is far in the future, Spider-fans have a lot to look forward to between now and then. DLC is planned and the leak suggested that a potential Venom game may come out before then. Insomniac Games has a reputation for delivering high-quality titles, so whatever comes next will likely be solid.
