After teasing two other upcoming characters, ZZZ has announced a third one; a young woman called Jane Doe.
The newest gacha game from miHoYo already boasts a roster of 17 playable Agents, ranging from elite maids to an anthropomorphic bear. Despite only launching on July 5, Zenless Zone Zero looks like it’s positioned to have a steady stream of new playable characters coming to the game. While the finer details are still a mystery, miHoYo hasn’t been shy about sharing these Agents’ names and designs, with the latest being Jane Doe.
With a name like that, Jane Doe is commonly a placeholder name for a woman of unknown identity, players should maybe expect a deliberately enigmatic individual. Either that, or she’s a deer.
Who is Jane Doe in ZZZ?
Jane Doe is an upcoming character in Zenless Zone Zero with a mysterious backstory and kit.
So far, the Zenless Zone Zero website and Twitter account haven’t really shared anything concrete about Jane Doe’s backstory, nor any info on how she plays in-game. She does call herself a cat Thiren, but there’s nothing about her design to suggest that. Rather than being a cat, her ears are possibly more akin to a young deer.
One quote of hers, “well, last time was last time! This time, I’m telling the truth. Trust me,” suggests Jane Doe may be something of a chronic liar. In fact, quotes from the citizens of New Eridu refer to her by different names. Combined with the fact she has no associated faction, unlike every other agent in the game, it’s easy to be suspicious of Jane Doe and her motives.
One thing that has been confirmed is her voice actor, and miHoYo aficionados will be familiar with her. ZZZ’s Jane Doe is voiced by Kelsey Jaffer also voices Yaoyao, one of Genshin Impact’s playable characters. Jaffer is also the character of Ayla in Punishing: Gray Raven, another free-to-play action-RPG from China. That game is handled at Kuro Games, the same studio behind the recently released Wuthering Waves.
Jane Doe may come alongside new Zenless Zone Zero characters Seth Lowell, Qingyi
Jane Doe is one of a few characters that will be added to ZZZ in the near future, alongside Seth Lowell and Qingyi.
Seth Lowell and Qingyi are members of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, so they may be added to the game around the same time. Jane Doe could also be a part of their faction, but this is uncertain.
With any luck, all three characters will be included as part of the 1.1 update for Zenless Zone Zero. At the time of writing, there’s no exact date for when this update will arrive, though it’s widely suspected to happen on August 14 or August 15.
