For the first time ever, movie tickets can be purchased at a kiosk inside Roblox and the first movie to receive those honors is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Brands have often turned to games as a way to engage with a younger audience. TV commercials and internet banner ads just don’t cut it anymore. This has led to in-game activations like collabs in Fortnite, crossover skins coming to a popular FPS, and even hiring virtual employees in an Ikea store built in Roblox. The latest idea has gamers take on a Roblox Beetlejuice challenge that conveniently ends with the chance to purchase tickets.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is coming to theaters on September 6. This means tickets are already on sale through online movie ticket sites or via movie theaters’ own apps. But for the first time in history, gamers can purchase tickets from a virtual box office inside a video game. Here’s how to get virtual tickets to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
How to get Beetlejuice Beetlejuice tickets inside Roblox
Moviegoers can get tickets to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice without leaving Roblox by taking part in an in-game experience called Beetlejuice: Escape the Afterlife.
In this game, players have to team up with Beetlejuice to rescue Delia, Lydia, and Astrid in three “immersive worlds.” Gamers will be transported to the Afterlife Lobby, a location based on the original film but with new scenes and experiences inspired by the sequel.
From this lobby area, gamers can choose between three worlds to enter. A character is trapped inside each world alongside ghouls and other monsters. The worlds have familiar elements like The Waiting Wrong, Shrinkers, and Adam’s model of Winter River, Connecticut.
Participating in Escape the Afterlife gives fans tokens to be used in a related in-game store. Players can also find a Fandango box office in the Afterlife Lobby, where they can “walk up and make a ticket purchase” right within the Beetlejuice game in Roblox. Players who purchase a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ticket will get an exclusive avatar item to use in Roblox as well. Only users 13 and over can purchase tickets.
“By leveraging the vast Roblox creator community, we are not only able to connect with existing Beetlejuice fans, but also have the opportunity to reach new audiences who are being introduced to him for the first time. And we are thrilled to be the first studio to test ticketing on the platform,” Warner Bros said in a press release.
The online response has been one of concern. Much like Roblox’s in-game currency, some parents questioned what would stop their children from buying tickets.
